Born near the Rainsong Jungle, JadeGrotto was apart of a family of Hippocampus herders. Always busy, she spent most of her youth raising her sisters and helping with the family business. She always had a way with the animals, using music and song to calm and call them. Once her sisters had grown up and left the clan, she decided to try her own luck out and about in the world. She herded a small group of hippocampus to a prospective buyer in the Sea of a Thousand Currents, and came across a Fae asking for help from the animal herders.

According to the Fae, TideSpirit, it seemed a grumpy Wildclaw farmer was having a problem with a herd of Mammertee and Kelp Tenders. JadeGrotto offered her expertise in aquatic animals, and in turn was given the the gift of fins from TideTempest. She made way to the undersea lands of KelpForest and swiftly brought peace to both dragon and beast. To her amusement, it took more time to tame KelpForest than the Mammertees, but she found goodness in his heart and hardwork. She is also no stranger to hard work, daily she tends to the aquatic beasts and the floating home she shares with KelpForest.

JadeGrotto was raised to be kind and welcoming to every dragon and beast, and even now her hospitality is renowned amongst the sailors and travelers (despite the annoyance to her mate). She even obtained the gift of language from TideSpirit so that she may be a better neighbor to nearby maren shoals. She frequently helps TideSpirit with creating bonds of peace with the maren with gifts of food and song, and in turn she has received numerous tips from the maren about growing and raising crops and Mammertee. She also receives help with the beasts from RainForest, who is her veterinarian and good friend. They often spend many long nights together debating on genes and new color variants of the aquatic beasts.

Another friend and teacher is the Pearlcatcher, RiverStyx. He once visited the farm in his travels and caught her singing while she herded. He offered to teach her the fine art of music and she happily accepted, though she shall admit her readiness was partly due to a crush on the handsome dragon. She has long since grown over the crush, and she is glad that the Pearlcatcher gets along so well with her mate.
