Candles flickered in the dimly lit tunnel as Victor walked through one of the catacomb's narrow passages. He took a deep breath as the tunnel opened into massive and brightly lit chamber. The smells of old paper and worn leather filled the surprisingly fresh air. Victor allowed himself to caress the spine of one old book before pulling it off of its shelf and holding it close to his chest. The cover was adorned with golden lettering that read a single word. "Widowmaker"

Born to a small clan of Ice dragons living on the Frigid Floes, Victor spent his childhood jumping between ice floes and helping his family hunt fish in the frigid water. When he was a few weeks old, Victor's mother fell ill with a sickness that slowly worsened over time. By the time Victor had matured, his mother was weak and pale, spending her time curled beneath a pile of animal pelts. When he returned from hunting trips, Victor would often sit and listen as his mother told him stories. Her tales were slow and often interrupted by violent fits of coughing, but Victor was always patient. He enjoyed hearing stories about the strange lands beyond the Icewarden's domain and hoped that someday he would have the chance to travel and see them for himself.

When Victor's mother passed away, he lost many of his youthful aspirations. His clan performed a burial, sending Widowmaker's body floating away from the frigid floes atop a small boat. A few months later, a strange flock of crows appeared, one of them carrying a mysterious letter that invited Victor to attend a performance at an opera house called the Cathedral of Eyes. Although his father forbid him from attending, Victor couldn't resist the temptation to visit the distant lands his mother had spoken of in her stories. He set off at night and continued flying until he reached the Beacon of the Radiant Eye.

The Cathedral of Eyes was a looming structure carved into the side of a cliff. Victor landed on one of the extended 'runways' that served as braking areas for larger dragons to slow their momentum from flight. His nails cicking against the polished marble, Victor made his way towards the opera house. An obsidian Imperial who introduced himself as Sebastian greeted Victor at the doors, requesting to see an invitation before leading Victor through the Cathedral. It was beautifully decorated with elegant crystalline chandeliers, stained glass windows, and carved stone walls. Finally, Victor was led into a room lined with rows of red velvet seats arranged in rings around a triangular stage. Towards the point of the stage that faced the audience, an enormous eye was intricately painted on the floor. Victor found his seat in the front row, aware that he was the only one in the audience.

When the musical began, Victor didn't recognize the plot at first. It was unusual, following the story of a young shadow Imperial born in the Wispwillow Grove. The Imperial's life was full of travels and failed romances until she met a lightning dragon called Kasuwi who stole her heart. Victor stared in shock as he began to recognize the story. The Imperial in the performance grew old and sick; spending her time huddled under a pile of blankets as she told stories of her travels to her son. Victor felt warm tears streak down his face as he recognized his mother's life story unfolding on the stage.

At the end of the performance, Victor turned to find another Imperial sitting next to him. "You must be curious" the dragon stated, his eyes fixed on the closed velvet curtains. "Tell me, Victor. Have you ever wondered what happens when a dragon dies?"

Victor followed the dragon down a series of twisting catacombs and into a massive library where he was invited to join a group of undertakers who called themselves the 'Librarians'. It was here that Victor spent many years binding books into which the stories of the dead were transcribed and later adapted into plays for the opera house above. But over time, Victor grew curious. The Cathedral, after all, was an unusual place. If the life stories of dragons could be retrieved from the dead, then could life itself be restored as well?

Unbeknownst to the other Librarians, Victor began experimenting until one day, he succeeded. It had been the body of a young Wildclaw; a brilliant scientist when she was alive. "Send it away" the Librarians demanded when they saw the dragon that Victor had brought back to life, "else we will destroy it for you". Victor, however, had already begun to fall in love with the scientist and he refused to simply send her away. "I will leave with her" he declared and the Librarians accepted his decision. "You will not be able to return once you leave" they said, but Victor didn't mind. He left with Frankenstein and an old book with the word 'Widowmaker' engraved on the cover.
