Since Imperial males and females tend to look relatively similar, not many can tell that Mendel is a mix of both. Under a microscope, some of Mendel's cells contain female chromosomes while other cells are distinctly male. It's confusing, really. . and their sister calls Mendel a 'bilateral gynandromorph' and then begins rattling on about the 'fascinating genetic condition'.

Mendel humors their sister, but they aren't as interested in genetics as she tends to be. Mendel prefers to spend their time gardening. They especially love pea plants.
