Biography

The Twisting Crescendo - the powerful storm that has raged since ancient times. This clash of energy is so powerful that occasionally, a smaller storm is thrown out into the surrounding landscape. These storms usually end up in other parts of the Windswept Plateau or the Sea of a Thousands Currents and soak up nearby elemental magic. If a storm soaks up enough magic, it takes on a corporal form and becomes a living being.

Hurricanes are storms that were thrown into the Sea of a Thousand Currents. The elemental magic they absorbed affected their coloring, turning them as blue as the sea itself. Hurricanes rarely leave the Water Domain, unable to survive being separated from water for too long.

As far as any dragon could remember, a great tempest called The Twirling Crescendo had ripped apart the land with unrestrained and uncontrollable gale-force. The energies of this storm, according to legends told by elders, were so forceful that they occasionally met in conflict so violent that a new storm would be unleashed from it. There was one storm in particular who was cast out onto the Sea Of a Thousand Currents, where it was able to drawn into it the energies from the area, becoming ever yet stronger with the infusement of the water magic that came to be pulled into it. It built and built up, becoming almost half the size that the Twisting Crescendo had been, and then, something extraordinary happened –

It died down suddenly, the sky clearing up, save for a swirling mass of gray cumulonimbus clouds, which delivered onto the world, in it’s careful hands no other than a small fae dragon. Created from the swirling rapids of the sea, this would the name she would take upon herself – Rapids. She was the very living form of the storm that she had originated from. The storm had acted as an incubator, picking up all of the energies to form her with, and as she had been borne from it, it’s purpose had fallen, and thus it disintegrated. Not understanding how she came into the world, she took to the skies in hopes of discovering who she was, and who she was to be. She needed answers, answers about her people.

As to what you would expect for a dragon created by a massive storm, she’s a bouncing ball of restless energy, needing to constantly be on the move at every second. She’s also a very speedy flier, another trait that she inherited in being a cyclone. She’s light on her feet, and very flighty, looking for action to chase after or partake in. Even her mind moves quickly, able to solve complex problems with ease and to jump from topic to topic. She thinks nothing of it, and is surprised by the perplexed looks of the dragons around her. She spends a great deal reading and trying to understand from ancient texts who she is, trying to grasp how she was able to come from the storm. She keeps her past somewhat on the down-low, only sharing it with close friends of hers.

For her clan she acts as a lookout, always on the move in the skies, patrolling the territory restless, her keen eyes searching down below for any signs of intruders. She’s ever vigilant, a morning bird and still a night owl in the afternoon – There’s just too much to see or to do than to sleep in! She’s a huge chatterbox, but she knows how to get her work done. When not doing her duties as a lookout, she doubles as a messenger, delivering scrolls and items over far reaches to other clans, and finding great joy in the friends and adventures that she finds herself pulled into on the way. From these endeavors, she’s got pals in high places, and in obscure clans, from the far reaches of The Viridian Labyrinth to the faraway Southern Icefield. Even in the Shadowbinder’s own territory, she was able to make friends with some of the inhabitants, who she made up for in talkativeness.

Everybody knows her, and not one would think of bringing harm onto her head, and therefor angering the other clans of which she is well-acquainted with. They adore her visits, and as she leaves, they say, “See you soon, Rapids!” and hope that in the near future she might deliver more across territory lines, and thus come visit again – Even some of the most foreboding clans of The Scarred Wasteland have a seat open at their dinner tables for her to drop by for lunch, even setting out a handful of seed for her familiar, and at The Shifting Expanse, the lightning dragons welcome her with open arms for gossip and news. Every clan wants her to join them, but she jokes and turns them away every time, saying that she’s already found a home, much to their jealousy!

Rapids perhaps most appreciates her mate Clouds, whom of which, they share a similar bond in which of having been created by storms. Between the two of them, they are able to learn more about each other, and in further regard, themselves. For Rapids, it meant somebody that she could trust with her origin, as he’d come from much a similar condition as she; and for him, it was Rapids of whom he which met at the storm, and it was she who became his mate. For Rapids, the look out – And, occasional – messenger, and Clouds, acting out as the Keeper of Words for his clan, a strong and joyous partnership and union of their strengths formed a bond so strong that the clans to the north, east, south, and west, all of which who’d gotten to know Rapids, sung praise and sent gifts to congratulate the couple.

Rapids is also good friends with Stamarkos and Ren, as well as taken an interest in the jobs of the two spies. Their relationship started off as pure curiosity, something of which the spies quickly jumped upon, realizing it could be useful to them if they were to get Rapids involved. And Rapids, eager to help in any way that she could, ate the attention up. It started with smaller things, gossip, if you would: “The leader of the Plague Clan I brought the message to is pregnant. Can you believe it?”, but quickly escalated into getting ahold of more in-depth secrets held between the clans, and regarding the alliances between them. The poor fae was overwhelmed and excitable with all this new information, and realizing that she could spill the beans to Ren and Stamarkos helped her to get it out to someone and help the clan in the process of doing so.

When the information is too much for just Rapids to handle, Ren takes it to the clan leaders who are able to act upon the new information accordingly, no matter what it takes, even if it means stepping between two clans on the path of war between each other in order to prevent a crisis. They are able to use their information to get an upper-hand in almost all ways, and as Rapids is well liked by the dragons of all flights, they willingly give up to her the information. Lately, she’s learned special techniques to help talk it out of them, but most of the time, it comes so naturally. They are comfortable around her and don’t realize that what they say to her could affect so much in the long term. With Stamarkos and Ren acting as her mentors, as well, she’s been able to progress wonderfully in this extra assignment of hers, and found it to be quite pleasurable.
