5KfK0se.png Anahira initially relocated to the Shifting Expanse because she heard it was too dangerous to fly there, what with all the lightning strikes, and she took affront to the idea that there was somewhere she couldn't handle going.

She quickly became hooked on the thrill of feeling the warning-hum of static crackle across her feathers right before lightning is about to strike. Soaring through the air high above the pale sand, dotted with bright blue sparks of busy workshops... the sky over her dark and boiling... waiting for that tingle across her senses and her feathers that warns her it's time to dive below something tall at the last moment.... Everything else became boring by comparison.

After spending all her money on enchantments to protect her from lightning strikes, she eventually had to go looking for a mage or enchanter who would help her protect herself in return for work.

She found Arcus, a very magic-sensitive Fae who was looking for help with catching strikes before they hit the hundreds of lightningrod towers so he can collect the energy for his enchantments. And while he thinks Anahira is somewhat out of her mind for accepting such a hazardous job without being a Lightning element dragon herself, he certainly can't fault her dedication or skill, so far be it from him to complain.

It started out as purely a business deal, but the conversations and laughter they shared during breaks and downtime made them both realize that they enjoyed each other's company so much that they didn't really feel like splitting up at the end of the work day... or at all, actually.
