Biography

Full member of the Element Infused subspecies, Stable ability type

n86H6un.png Ianna was part of a small, quiet clan that kept to itself in the Southern Icefields, neither making enemies nor gathering outside allies. So when a group of fanatical zealots devoted to taking prisoners for the Fortress of Ends attacked, the fight was already lost before they even knew what was happening.

She did her best to help defend her clan, but she was still young at the time and not practiced in combat. Her last memory is taking a hard blow to the head and falling into a snowdrift, which is where she woke up hours later, the clinking of chains still echoing in her ears.

Every day since then has been a day of preparing to meet those zealots again, training herself to call up and throw knife-sharp shards of ice, searching for them. Sometimes the strain of it wears on her, sending stabbing pains through her chest and her heart, pressing against her until she feels like she can't breathe and filling her head with buzzing noises. One day she might meet someone who knows well enough to explain to her that these are panic attacks, but until then she thinks of them only as 'what those worthless wastes of flesh and bone did to me.'

It was after one such attack forced her to stop and lay down for a long while, half blind and fighting to breathe, that Ianna had to admit that seeking her enemy out all by herself wasn't a wise idea.

She started on a search for other dragons who seemed powerful enough to be a help instead of a liability- the last thing she needed was to feel like she was leading someone else straight into death or capture- and she started to hear rumors of a strange valley owned by an Ice dragon so hostile that anyone who tried to get close would be assaulted by blinding snow and knife sharp ice shards.

Confident that she was strong enough to push back any amount of Ice power with her own, at least for the few minutes it would take to try to negotiate her way into a conversation, Ianna set off towards this supposedly impossible to cross valley.

It wasn't hard to find. Ice sharp enough to cut through feathers and skin was kicked up all around the place like a howling storm. There was no doubt that she had found the right location... except her Skydancer senses were picking up not Ice magic, but Wind. She pushed through to the center and was baffled to find, no territorial living blizzard... only a fairly miserable Wind Imperial named Emerus and a tired Fire Spiral called Finch, both huddling together in a self-made warm air pocket.

A very confused conversation followed. It turned out that Ianna was the first person to press through the storm to find them, and that they didn't even realize they had created a protective storm at all! They were just combining their abilities to create a pocket of warmth where they could avoid freezing to death. The two of them had ended up in the Icefields because they had been kidnapped and brought here by the zealots Ianna was trying to track down. She was on the right track after all.

She started to explain which direction the two of them should travel to find the easiest way to leave the Icefields and return to their old homes, but they had other ideas.

If Emerus and Finch had managed to be so dangerous without even trying... wouldn't all three of them, working together on purpose, be practically unstoppable?
