ABOUT:

As an archetypal guardian, Asper spends every waking moment protecting and nuturing his charge: prosperity. Despite the verdure in his eyes, he has taken on a lead role in his Light-aligned clan, becoming the overseer of everything -- Everything -- that goes on within the Sound, from the selling of tacky tourist gifts to the yearly rotation of crops to the illicit dealings within the depths of the clan's black market.

Despite his reserved demeanor, Asper cares deeply about the well-being of his chosen clan, or at least the proficiency aspect of such, and prefers to handle things diplomatically if at all possible. He is wise enough to realize he can best protect his charge with the help of others and has amassed a retinue of aides, spies, and officials reporting directly to him.

With connections running across the whole of the Sunbeam Ruins and beyond, Asper makes sure everyone at the Sound - resident and visitor alike - are in want of nothing during their stay... at a cost, of course.

HISTORY:

Asper was raised in a small clan on the fringes of the Viridian Labyrinth and early on felt the calling of his Search. Joining a merchant caravan travelling South, Asper was quick to pick up the particulars of a mercantile life; his Search impulse seemed to subside as he learned the tools of this new chosen trade.

When the caravan - his clan, then - arrived at the Halcyon Sound, Asper realized two things: the financial potential of the Halcyon Sound - then a modest trading port - was being severely undervalued, and that his charge was nothing more than a nebulous term - profit.

His guardian instincts and premonitions made him a skilled negotiator, always able to see the best solutions to any deal and exactly how to deal with people - customers, rivals, allies - who were, he would find out, quick to encroach on what was rightfully His.

He decided to stay in the Sound and began marketing it as a vacation residence, be it for artists, debutantes, wealthy merchants or business meetings. He also realized he could offer the less fortunate a place of refuge in return for labor, ensuring that the Sound’s operations run smoothly even in the peak months of travel.
