Biography

Snowshoe Rabbit Firestarter Crystal Quartz
Member of the Winged Order
Hymn’s life had always gone from the simple to the exciting, up to down, and he wouldn’t have it any other way.

Born to a knight that long since had fallen from glory, Hymn’s father always wondered just how much of himself he would see in the young Nocturne. Though the child had received sword training, he did not have much else – likewise, his father had fame in distant, old ears, but no others remembered his name. They were only a wall and a roof away from sleeping on the streets.

While the boy grew up, the knight grew old, and Hymn knew he had no time left to make a decision.

And so he went out with nothing but a sword. Perhaps this blade had once carried words of glory, perhaps they had been words of ruin. No matter what they were, however, they would guide him from here on out.

Finding work was not difficult, even for a sellsword with no accomplishments to his name. It was finding somewhere to go from there that was the hard part. For now, though, did only what he was told to.

Nobody is sure what happened after. Hymn claims to have had a change of heart, and that the dangers his band pulled him into were too great. The mercenary band itself, however, fell apart around the same time. Either way, the Nocturne now found himself begging and starving before a nobleman’s den, before eventually being taken in. He was given food and a bed, in exchange for his constant vigilance.

This was alright. It was not the most exciting thing in the world, that much was true. But Hymn could not deny that not having to fear for his life also had its charm. At the very least, he could quite easily keep this up – that was, until he overheard talk of a certain dragon.

She was a medium, they said. It was proving difficult to predict her movements, but they’d catch her easily enough nonetheless. Perhaps her services would fetch a pretty enough price, if she’d work with them. But it seemed more likely she wouldn’t.

So then they could have her head.

Hymn never found out what it was that she, in their eyes, did to deserve such a fate. But he knew this much: right now, he was the only one who could prevent it. Was he truly prepared to turn his blade against his masters like that?

It was a week later that he, when roaming the Lightweaver’s lands, saw a welcoming place on the horizon. The medium’s hand in his, Hymn knew that this was where they had to go. But he’d be willing to go anywhere – as long as he could protect her.
