Biography
Lyssa
The world changed, and we were not prepared.
As per tradition, Lyssa wandered far from home when establishing her new clan. She remembered not her kin if she ever had any at all. Lyssa often fancied herself as a being made of pure arcane magic, a miracle only seen once or twice a season. In her hubris, she found herself lost in the southern ice field where she quickly discovered that she did not like the cold. Worried she'd freeze to death, she wandered into a cave, knowing full well a dragon had already taken refuge inside. She was surprised by the stranger's friendly greeting.
"Welcome friend, I do not remember you, but we have met before. You may take shelter here," the stranger said, offering her a warm smile. Unsure what to say to that, she nodded.
They talked for a long time. She took shelter in his warm woolly coat. He did not seem to mind. She did not leave in the morning despite the sky's being clear. She did not leave even after he offered her supplies and a map. Lyssa couldn't quite express why. There was a long silence before finally, he said, "Would you like me to come with you?" She nodded, glad he understood.
Having had a taste of the outside world, Lyssa decided she'd be far more comfortable in Starfall Isles. They settled on one of the floating islands and made a modest lair, which they occasionally expanded with the arcanist's permission. She took to practicing magic and eventually founded a witch coven with Loras and Ophelia. Both have since joined the deities, and she alone remains of the original coven. Tybalt and Lyssa had their first three children, Rowan, Calypso and Alexi, all stayed, eventually choosing their mother's path of magic and mystery. As their territory has grown, more promising young witches and warlock have joined their clan from many different flights.
However, her position as leader is not as secure as it once was. Long ago a decision was made to leave the Starfall Isles and enter the Windsinger's territory, they now live near the Gale Sanctum close to the Aergate. After this move, two prominent members of the clan, Lumen and Liam, grew in influence and power causing the demographics of the clan to change. Witches and Warlocks are now a minority, and the clan is full of warriors whose values reflect those of the Windswept Plateau and Southern Ice Field. The less culturally connected they became the more a steady and irreparable rift occurred between Lyssa's coven and the rest of the clan. Rising tensions and long held resentments finally came to a head with the arrival of the Ancients. The sudden appearance of such powerful alien beings brought into question why a tiny fae from the Star Fall Isle was even in charge causing the clan to break into three main factions with several splinter groups living on the fringes of the clans territory.
Lyssa longs for the days when the most she had to worry about was one of her bodyguards falling in love with a maiden from the woods. In order to keep the clan together, she has made many concessions. While she is still ceremonially the head of the clan, in reality, she is now a part of a council of three, subject to the whims of her peers. She is not as prideful as she was in her youth. Time has taken its toll on her, and now that everything she knew has changed, she is subdued and thoughtful.
The world changed and we . . . we were not prepared.
