"There is a Crack in Everything, That is How Light Gets in"

She was born amid a cluster of dull, fragile blue eggs. Robin blue. Her own egg was a deep sea blue, almost ancient but in a way that new life is an ancient process that started at the birth of creation. Her egg had a faint light blue hue to it, a glow almost. The members of her particular Water clan were powerful dragons. When she hatched, she was regarded as a powerful dragon herself. Rich, in the case of humanity. Her siblings were also "rich", having been born to the Alphas and in the line for ruling the clan. She was named Sapphire.
But Sapphire had a big secret: since birth she'd been able to read the Runes that randomly appeared on ancient stones. It was an old ability, and one that gave her much wisdom and knowledge. Powerful things. She didn't want her parents ever to find out about this, they would use her to get the knowledge for themselves. They were powerful already, but if you can get more you always take it. She was able to keep this a secret for a long time, until one day.
"Sapphire!" the call of her mother, the Alpha Female, startled her. She was in the middle of a pile of Runestones, translating them.
"Yes?" she asked, her pulse racing since she knew she couldn't escape being discovered.
"What are you doing my dear, Sapphire?" her mother came down to look. Her eyes widened with shock at the sight of Sapphire sitting amid the stones, obviously knowing what they said. Then the shock turned to greed. Her mouth curved maliciously, "Come inside, Sapphire, will you? You're father and I want to have a little chat." Her mother went back in.
Stupid mother, Sapphire had thought. Did she really think that Sapphire wouldn't run away at this moment?
Spreading her wings, Sapphire took off. Her mother, however, heard the flapping of her wings and raced back outside. She jumped up to catch Sapphire but failed. Sapphire was smaller, and faster.
Sapphire flew for three days straight, never stopping for rest. She realized after a while that she was homesick, but also finally feeling good that her secret wasn't such a heavy burden anymore. Her parents would undoubtedly spread it. Her mother would anyway. At the end of her third day, she finally collapsed on a small hill rolling out of a field. She looked for whatever food she could find, she didn't know who's territory she was on but didn't particularly care.
After a week of aimlessly wandering around, Sapphire decided. Why not start a new life? If she could just find the right dragon, a new clan could be instantly started. A new life to forget the past.

Characteristics Sapphire is one of the kinder members of Mystieke, helping new members adjust to the clan, basically helping ALL members who need help, and generally being kind to all, clan or not. She never speaks of her past, and tries not to think of what happened to her family. Did they mourn her? Miss her at all? Are they sending search parties for her? She is Karale's most trusted ally besides her Alpha Male, Ravasaade, also the original first member of the clan. She generally prefers to spend most of her time translating Runes and writing them down in one of Mystieke's many growing volumes for further research. All in all, she is a very welcoming dragon to have around.
Relationships Sapphire currently has no mates. She formerly had two, but the first was from her old clan. She split up with the second, he still lives in Mystieke though and they keep themselves as friends. All of her children were killed in accidents, as they were very ambitious and refused to be anywhere but the front lines in a battle. They were all sent to the Tidelord. She misses them but knows they're in a great place. She was pretty lonely for awhile until Karale invited the scientist, Stone, into Mystieke. Sapphire and Stone worked together on all of the runes that were discovered, translating and recording. In exchange, Sapphire helped him with lab stuff. The two eventually grew close together, finding comfort in each other and welcoming new dragons.
