When Karale was born, a vicious lightning streak lit the air of her nest. It caught the nest on fire and blackened Karale's egg. Her mother, unstable and worrying, fled the nest thinking that all her eggs were dead. Three of her eggs were dead, the fourth and fifth had survived. The fourth egg hatched before the fifth. The hatchling was a burly male Guardian. His dark brown color was smeared by a bloody crackle from the lightning strike. His brain cells had been sizzled, leaving him with a sense of insanity.
He forced Karale's egg open, breaking it to pieces. Inside was a young hatchling, completely obsidian. She was smaller than most because her brother had opened her egg too soon.
