Riptide

Like all of Neptune and Marina's children, Riptide was introduced to the ocean from the moment he hatched, and took to it like it was where he belonged. He became the best swimmer amongst his brood and spent most hours of the day either in the water or by the shore. Though he did enjoy diving, he struggled to be any good at it, and so stuck to the surface and soon discovered the fun in riding waves. The sight of the imperial flailing along inside the large waves that frequented the isles worried many of the isles' elders until they saw that somehow Riptide was having the time of his life in doing so. Never did anyone have to interfere and rescue the hatchling for he could handle himself just fine no matter the size of the wave. As he grew older it became even more entertaining to watch the Imperial try and control the length of his body to match and ride the waves, and he became more bold with the challenges he took on - often going out on stormy nights to tackle the most violent and largest waves the island could experience. Though Riptide would have been content living on the isles and continuing on with this daily routine for the rest of his days, he took ever islander - even his parents - by surprise when he stated that he longed to start a family and couldn't do so with all of the younger generations leaving for Sornieth. With that statement, he announced his departure and new goals, even if it meant having to give up his days surfing. Having never been much of a flyer, Riptide set out, swimming the entire distance to the mysterious realm of Sornieth.
