I think my parents always knew there was something different about me. My siblings had been given commonly used names of the ice clans, honored and respectable. Of all things, they named me after the personification of hatred. Did they despise me so much, even before I had a chance to prove my worth? I suppose it wouldn't have mattered anyway. They were all so closed-minded, judging me for trying to help the clan in my own my. It was not my fault that I was interested in more bloody methods of study.

When I went hunting, I would bring my prey back to the lair. I worked into the dead hours of the night to dissect it, studying the patterns of veins, the structure of organs, the functions of each body part. It was fascinating, and I never thought that anyone would object. That is, until my siblings gradually began to shun me, excluding me from everything they could. Fear and disgust filled their eyes when they saw my handiwork. My mother shook her head in disdain, while my father scowled angrily. “If you want to stay here, you need to stop this behavior immediately. No proper dragon does such disgusting things to their prey! You'll never find a mate if you continue in this way.”

I didn't understand why they were so upset. I could help them! Knowing anatomy could help the warriors fight more efficiently. The healers could use this information to save lives. What was the issue? Wanting to prove myself, I continued my efforts in secret. Dead prey was not enough for me, so I captured living beings for my experiments. My curiosity knew no bounds. Where was the bridge between life and death? Could a living being survive without this part? What if I replaced this with something else? I spent most of my time alone in a private lair where no one could see me.

It was only a matter of time until I was found out. My parents' eyes filled with horror as they viewed the...rather messy...interior of my lair. My mother screeched, “What has become of you? You...you...monster!” My father growled with hostility. “Will you harm your siblings next? Get out. You are no longer my daughter. Leave this place and never return!” I was confused. I was trying to help them. Why didn't they understand? The pain of my father's teeth in my flank jolted me back into reality. I had no choice but to flee, hurt both emotionally and physically. I still didn't understand what was so wrong about what I was doing. The only bright side to this was that now I could continue my studies unhindered.

A few months later, I was in the midst of the Tangled Wood. I growled viciously in frustration at the corpse of an unlucky beast before me. They kept dying. Why did they keep dying?! I was trying to make them better, to discover that which no one had before. What was going wrong? The sound of harsh laughter filled the air and I whirled around. “If you keep going like this, your pets will always die.” It was an imperial with crystalline scales the color of green poison. I was wary, for all others I had met were disgusted once they learned of my hobby. “My, my, kid. Maybe you can help me. Therefore, I can help you.” I was shocked. She wasn't horrified or frightened? She...didn't care?

Anaideia was amazing. I longed for the company I was never given, so I decided to accompany her as long as she would allow me. Together we continued experimenting, combining our knowledge to work faster than I ever could have alone. For the first time in my life, I felt truly accepted. It wasn't that she was particularly motherly or affectionate, but she was dedicated and intelligent. She didn't judge me for my actions or ask any prying questions. I am certain that one day soon we will finally pinpoint the bridge between life and death. Even if our current clan rejects us one day, I know that together we simply cannot fail.

Into the blushing moonlight I essay
As I spend my days feverish making
Revisions to the actors in my play
That scorn my prudent undertaking

Prey—dead things hallowed to the others
Which closer prove to be but flesh and bone
And somehow tempt the hate of brothers
To turn their glaring eyes on me alone

While peacefulness adorns this weighty work
And the forest songs soft assure my ear
Loneliness is a monster that long lurks
In minds of those who know the world severe

For long that beast did lodge inside my head
For longer yet I feared it might reside
But through good fortune hope lies in its stead
With Anaideia’s guidance by my side

She will find it. She has to. Too long has this puzzled her: where is the line between life and death? Where does our first life end and the other begin?

The obsessions fuels experiments, horrific in the eyes of the world and yet necessary in hers. A rack of polished surgical instruments twinkle sharply under the harsh lights. She will cut the truth out, and it doesn't have to be from a corpse.

No one says, enough, no one says, stop, and that is mostly because no one is left to do so.

Well Pendelus likes trickster friends
But he can't help but stare.
A cat, a snake, and red dragon
Approach his darkened lair.

The sound is quite cacophonous
Loud hisses fill the air.
He lobs treats from a distance
And hopes they'll leave from there.

You have quite the variety to choose from! Sclerosis's lore spoke to me in particular, buuut
Nyx here, she uh. Well, her seeking out the bridge between life and death in the most visceral way possible shot her right up to the top of Creepy for me.
