Aelius is one of the largest and strongest dragons in the clan, far larger than his father. He has taken it upon himself to guard his clan from any danger. With his age has come a reserved, dignified authority; he no longer speaks only with his mother's voice, but with his own. He is powerful, protective, and loves his clan and family deeply. He has been very protective over his son, Reefglider, ever since the Roseblood incident.

Marked clearly with his father's colors, Aelius is the second-born son of Helios and Windracer. He is swift and strong, more likely (but less willing) to outrun an enemy than to stand and fight- or outfly, given that his massive wings and the huge lungs of his mother make him one of the fastest fliers in the clan. His father and Duskrunner have taught him that, because of his proficiency in battle, he has to protect his fellow clanmates. He is thus somewhat overprotective of his brothers and sister, and of the other hatchlings that aren't directly his siblings or aren't even related to him at all. They can sometimes chafe under his watchful eye and cautioning words- he's been reprimanded for hovering (metaphorically) over his siblings a few times by his mother.
