Mauve and his two clutchmates went with Zedan back to the Solar Solar when Frosting returned to Clan Pineapple. Ruban almost-immediately began following Candela around, nagging him to teach him about the Lightweaver and combat against monsters and Beastclan warriors, and Kokardka spent her time with Anthracitetta and Peregrinatrix listening to those two discuss fashion... but Mauve stayed with Zedan, as if trying to hide in his father's shadow.

Alternifolia, one of the First Four of the Solar Solar, didn't want him to stay, because Alternifolia does not like Pearlcatchers; but Zedan insisted that his son could stay if he wanted, and Waterlily pointed out that Alternifolia had let her stay principally because of his parental feelings, and the combined argument convinced Alternifolia... at least for now.

Shortly after his arrival, talented scrollsmiths began selling tesselation-patterning scrolls; Mauve obtained one for his wings, by what means he refuses to reveal, and read it even before returning home after his purchase.
Once they became adults, Ruban set off to learn about combat from other Light clans, and Kokardka found herself a home with a clan that had just immigrated from the Gladeveins (and promptly renamed herself to Cupcake), but Mauve stayed close to Zedan.

This proved fortuitous, as he was still doing nothing-much-at-all when Meteia and Geo had a daughter and Geo needed someone to go fishing with her while he was working and Meteia was away. Mauve wasn't bad at fishing (just unable to digest his catch, unless it was seaweed or water bugs), so he volunteered, and he and Fangosita became friends.

Some weeks later, Mauve and Fangosita had a nest together. It had three hatchlings in it, two boys and a girl: Angajuq ("Elder brother"), Meeraq ("Child"), and Mamaqtuq ("Delicious"). Angajuq went to study with the Arcanist's astrologers, while Mamaqtuq became one of the Stormcatcher's interns. Their next nest had only one hatchling in it, a male Pearlcatcher; they named him Mamaqtuq as well, so that they'd have both a boy and a girl, and both a Pearlcatcher and a Mirror, named Delicious. Meeraq's own first nest hatched about this time, with one egg in it, and Meeraq left the Solar Solar to celebrate Father's Day with the Earthshaker.

Mamaqtuq (the boy) had one nest with Kvara (the same Tundra with whom Meeraq had nested); there were three hatchlings, one Tundra and two Pearlcatchers. The Tundra, Canthuion, has remained with the Solar Solar; the Pearlcatchers, Lebthil and Brithilwi, did not, but only because Mamaqtuq did not stay for long after their hatching.
