Biography
Alia is only just nominally part of the Solar Solar. Like the intercalary day on which she was born, she comes and goes; she is sometimes gone long enough for some of the Tundras to forget her name and how they know her.
|
In some ways Alia is Luminance's opposite: Luminance helps the Tundras of the clan remember others, Alia goes missing long enough to be forgotten; and it was thought that Luminance had been exalted when she hadn't been, when Alia really did choose exaltation, but returned. So many dragons left the Solar Solar, not to mention the rest of the Sunbeam Ruins, during the fierce fight for dominance over Earth, that the procession towards the Lightweaver was very slow. Nearly all the exalted dragons were joyful about their future prospects, even though Light had failed to destroy Earth, but Alia felt her former clan-mates regretting her decision, and before the clan gestalt could fade completely from her awareness, she returned to the Solar Solar.
Upon her return, Alia gladly let the Boulder Nymph travel with her again, but she put aside the bluffclamber belongings and skeletal chimes she'd worn for years in favor of more ethereal garb. Though she (and her nymph) didn't plan to stay near to the Solar Solar any more than they had before, they did resolve to stay near enough that the whole clan could sense them through the gestalt, not just the Founders. |
When magic flared up and altered every nest on the face of Sornieth, it also altered Alia's face: her eyes changed, very subtly, though when she was wearing her cowl (which is to say, whenever she was outside), the change was not visible. |
After twenty-six festivals (and two Nights of the Nocturne) had passed, just before her third Thundercrack Carnivale, Alia nested with an Arcane dragon in a clan of the Leviathan Trench. They had two eggs, both boys, a Snapper and a Tundra; both hatched with the Firefly gene, and Alia began to manifest it upon their hatching as well! Raegar, the elder, went to serve the Tidelord during Water's battle for dominance over Wind; Snow found a home in a clan of the Starwood Strand, but after having a single egg in his first nest with a lady Tundra named Wisteria, he, Wisteria, and their son, Freckle, all went to the Arcanist's service. |
During the next Night of the Nocturne, Alia and Treble had a nest together; two eggs, Countertenor and Tenor. To Treble's horror, Countertenor went to a Light clan that promptly left for Earth. He's convinced he's cursed, but Alia's very intrigued by her third son's breed change, and is considering something similar for herself... |
