Biography

adad was young when he first arrived in clan horesh. however, before he even managed to make it out on his own, he managed to stumble into something quite dark. he has always been extremely invested in the magical arts, particularly the heavier, darker ones. the prospect of reanimation was something his young mind could barely wrap around, and yet it was all he thought about for a long time. he threw himself into study as he scrambled to learn all that he could about the dark arts. being intelligent and dedicated, he absorbed a great deal of information. and, though his intentions were pure, the one spell he ever attempted ended quite horrifically. adad decided to bring back to life one of his father's most beloved sons. exalted long ago for a dominance battle, adad thought it would be a welcome surprise for his family. however, when he finished the rite, his half-brother emerged from his grave only half-alive, flesh mangled and eyes and wild. he couldn't even speak out his pain, but gurgled and thrashed about as wildly as his stunted limbs would allow him to. terrified beyond measure, adad immediately fled the site of his grave and his clan without so much as a passing word. his experiences, especially so early in his development, have made him into a very wary and skeptical adult. he was hesitant to even join a clan again, afraid to surround himself with other dragons after what he had done and what he had seen. he now stays far away from any sort of transfiguration or other transformative spells. he even shies away from alchemy. anything that changes the nature of its target is something, he feels, cannot be trusted. he messed with the natural order once and refuses to do so ever again. his new clan mates find him to be a very odd and nervous dragon, hard to approach and harder to stay near. they don't know what accounts for his warped personality. and he, deeply ashamed of his actions and fearful of them ever coming to light, does nothing to gain their sympathies. the only dragon who he has confided in is eyphah. her quiet ways and her underwhelming presence have brought out more of the dragon he once was; compassionate and thoughtful, someone who cares deeply for others and has a lot to say. they have forged a deep connection and have become mates, who can often be found in their shadowed den on the edge of camp. they spend large portions of the day locked in expansive conversation. adad never expected that anyone would want to stick around after hearing about what he had done. eyphah has gone to great lengths to assure him that he was too young to understand what had happened, and that he surely wouldn't be so foolish again. and she's right. together, they may find a way to remind the male of how kind and worthy a dragon he truly is. he grows a bit happier each day that he shares in their love. he's slowly returning to magic, one simple spell at a time. simple things, mostly, and not necessarily practical things. he enjoys conjuring up puffs of snow and shards of ice because they remind him of his homeland. he refuses to ever try any battle magic, so he mostly studies via reading and converses with the other mages every now and again on arcane matters. when he's not busy talking to either mages or his mate, or reading, or moping, adad helps gather food or alchemical materials. he likes to bring things for his stepson gomer to experiment with--they aren't particularly close, but he likes to help in what little ways he can. | x |
