Lore

Rubellite works alongside her beloved twin brother Sugilite as the clan's mages. Impulsive and passionate, Rubellite sees her enthusiasm as a vital force required to bring her overly cautious brother out of his shell, lest he never act on anything. While this is certainly true, it is equally true that his cautious nature is invaluable in tempering her impulsiveness too. The siblings compliment each other fantastically in personality and ability, as they have since they hatched.

When the twins were young, Sugilite worked hard to develop a charm that would suppress her accidental magical discharges. They were a frustrating condition for her, as even sneezing could cause small explosions, and sadness made her cups of tea freeze over before she could drink them.

She was touched by her brothers hard work for her, and wanted to help him too. Sugilite, ever the introvert, always got shaky when presenting his findings to others, especially other mages. His trembling made him feel unprofessional and affected his ability to demonstrate his spells, making him even more nervous. Rubellite worked in secret for a long time to develop a set of small jewellery pieces to put on each limb to still the trembling and give him confidence. Such things are not her specialty at all, but eventually she proudly presented them to him before a mages conference.

To the delight of both twins, the enchantments worked, and Sugilite felt much better feeling the pressure of the bands against his skin, like having his sister holding his hand in support. He didn't tremble at all. A few nights later, tinkering with the jewellery, ever curious Sugilite finally worked out the spell behind the it. As it turns out, Rubellite, ever useless at enchanting, had failed the spell completely and the jewellery was completely inactive. He never told her though, and wears the jewellery to this day. A siblings love works as well as any spell.
