Escalus is a shy, quiet butterball who is curious about the world. He tends to enjoy discovering the world on his own. He has an appreciation of some arithmatics and science, his special interest being architecture. He has a growing building block collection, thanks to he and his brother's constant trips to the toy store. Escalus also has an appreciation for comedy, because of his older brother.

His older brother, Luminose, lived alone in his house for a little bit, until one day, while going out to get lunch. He came across a small harpy egg in a flower patch, frantically grabbed it, and scrambled to the town of harpies, Featherborne Village, which neighbored Asterion Burgh. After asking the whole town if it was their child, to no avail, he decided to bring the egg back home and tend to it. When it hatched, Luminose decided to just care for the child and take up the role of an older brother. He also named the child Escalus, and has raised him ever since. Escalus admires his older brother, and considers him to be his family.
