____Morgana was a dragon that led a life like any other, a young and innocent imperial that simply wanted to play with their friends and have fun. One day, she and her friends visited the famous fortune teller, Maggs; there, Morgana received an odd fortune that she brushed off, she did not believe in such abilities. Despite not believing is such forces, she spent the night awake, stirring in bed, as she thought of the words that came out of the fortune teller's mouth as she focused on her crystal ball. ____What the child did not know was that, on that day, something that lied dormant inside her began to silently grow and on one unforgettable afternoon, it all billowed over her. ____It was a lovely evening, Morgana and a group of other young dragons played on the town's sun-kissed main square as the sunset began to spread through the sky. The small imperial had always been enthusiastic and competitive, and during a particularly vigorous game of dodgeball, when the time came for the final throw, Morgana did it with such intensity that something withing her burst open to the surface. A bright spark of energy was summoned and enveloped the ball she held, and, as she threw it, it caused the friend and intended target to be thrown back a few meters. ____Although no lethal injuries had been caused, it was enough to erupt a panic throughout the town. She apologized profusely, still in shock as she did not understand what had happened and, after going home, she went to sleep that night with a heavy heart, and a bad feeling in her gut. ____She woke up to banging, loud banging on her door, paired with shouting from what sounded like a crowd outside her house. As she stepped outside, she encountered dozens of dragons. She saw her neighbor, who always gave you aether cherries of his tree when harvest time arrived; her teacher that had the talent of never getting mad or annoyed at the students. So many faces that were familiar and that once looked fondly at her, now contorted into anger, terror, and disgust. ____On that day, Morgana was cast off from her home, forbidden to ever return. ____Banished and abandoned, the young dragon took shelter in the only place she knew: the dark woods; although it was not a welcoming place, it was the only place she knew the location of, having heard so many stories. There, alone, she raised herself, learning everything she had to in order to survive and, in the process, learned about herself and the power that flowed in her veins.  |
____Although she did not have a teacher, she created her own craft; protection enchantments kept her home hidden, salves healed injured animals, potions gave her enough strength for her to fend for herself against more aggressive forest dwellers. The forest could be a beautiful place, but it was also home to dangerous forces.
____It had not been an easy path. Every night, Morgana slept holding tight to the only memory of her old life: a pink chalcedony pendant, given to her at birth by her parents, as it was her family's tradition. It was all she had left of her home, her family; but hope of being welcomed back had died many years ago. She knew in her heart that her parents loved her, but they never searched for her; or if they did, they never found her. To believe the latter hurt less.
