The crackle-fizz of energy weighs down the very air around Ardens. No matter where she is, her very presence in a room brings this charged power with her. There’s clearly something strange and wonderful about this ridgeback. To any observer familiar with magic, it’s obvious that she’s a sorceress or witch of some serious skill. To any casual observer who might look her directly in the eyes, it soon becomes clear that not only is Ardens a powerful magic user, she’s also completely blind. Her teal eyes are clouded over, and they never quite seem to focus on anything in particular. Still, she doesn’t have any trouble navigating through the world.

Ardens was born with fully-functional sight, but an illness in her youth soon took it away from her. Fortunately, her parents were patient and did everything they could to teach their daughter to navigate the world through other means.

Although Ardens could never truly see after that, she can still sense the energy in living creatures and anything else that has power thanks to her magic. This allows her to create a sort of map in her head. It’s not quite the same as seeing, but it still allows her to function on a higher level than many other sight-challenged dragons.

In some ways, she decided to travel the world to prove to herself that she could overcome this obstacle. Ardens found a new home with a clan in the Flamecaller’s domain. She’s always been fascinated by other types of magic than her own, and this clan seems to have plenty of other magical dragons to study. She’s currently trying to observe Ardeo. He doesn’t tell her much, but she’s heard tale of his strange visions and wants to know more about them.

She doesn’t have many friends in the clan currently, but that will certainly change with time.
