S K Y L A R K
Marsh & Skylark both arrived at the Dragonfly Clan on the same day. Having wandered Sornieth for many months alone, they had both become wander-weary and a bit lonely. Being a Gen One can be isolating enough, having no parents or siblings to share life’s experiences with, but being a Gen One without a mate or home to call one’s own had made it even more so.
During the Winter Solstice and Night of the Nocturne Celebration of 2016, Marsh happened upon the Dragonfly Clan where he became intrigued by an outgoing young spiral named Skylark. Being a rather withdrawn and sullen dragon himself, Marsh was intrigued by Skylark’s boisterous and excitable attitude and found himself craving her company. Soon his instinctive urge to mimic those he is closest to led him to break free from his usual moody state of mind and begin to display more personable traits.
The more Marsh got to know Skylark, the better he liked her and he was quickly overcome with the desire to make her his own. Adopting her passion for life and happy-go-lucky character made him a desirable companion and Skylark enjoyed his company greatly. It wasn’t long before they fell in love and began a family.
One night, during the incubation period of their first nest, Marsh and Skylark reminisced about the months they spent alone, searching for a home and family they weren’t sure they would ever find. They confided in each other the fears they had experienced of being alone for all eternity, of never finding a place where they belonged or a mate to share their life with. Now, having found the Dragonfly Clan and begun their lineage of descendants, they made a vow to each other and their unhatched generations to come that they would perpetuate their ancestry and maintain their family tree.
One dragon from each clutch born into Marsh & Skylark’s heritage will be found a suitable mate and bred before being sent off to find their place in the world, thus ensuring the preservation of their bloodline.
