Biography
Protector of Hatchlings
Myfanwy did not have to go far to find her Charge. She found that she, more than any of the other dragons of the clan, was compelled to protect the hatchlings. She knows when each egg is about to hatch, and is the first adult dragon each hatchling of Y Draig Teg sees that isn't its mother or father. The clan's skydancers entrust their hatchlings to no other dragon. She is happiest when the hatchery is full of hatchlings of all sizes, shapes, and colors. When there are no hatchlings, Myfanwy keeps the nesting grounds free of pests and predators.
One such pest, or at least she thought so at first, was a glowing pocket mouse. Myfanwy simply could not eat this particular baby mouse as it was simply too cute, especially when he started glowing after falling asleep in her claws. He was such a tiny spark that she decided to call him Ember, and he became her familiar. The hatchlings are fascinated by him, and he helps keep them in line. Even the most mischievous hatchling behaves better if Ember chitters at him/her. With Ember's help, Myfanwy knows what the hatchlings are doing, even when they can't see her, or they think she can't hear them. It is only after they have grown to be adults that they realize that Ember was reporting all their plans to Myfanwy before they had a chance to enact them.
Other dragons of the clan know that Myfanwy treats each hatchling as if it were her own. No hatchling is more important than another in her eyes and heart. Those that were in her care often return to visit her. Some even play with Ember for a bit before going on their way.
