No one knows where the dragon known as ‘the Shadow’ comes from. Not even him. He awoke one day on the Starfall Isles, having no knowledge of who he was or how he got there. All he knew was that he had a thirst for knowledge, to fill the empty void within him.

With that goal in mind, he set out to explore, to quest, to find answers. Along the way, he earned his moniker from the various beastclans that he preyed on to survive, striking only from the shadows. It was not easy, and nothing brought him closer to discovering the answers he sought. Not until the dream.

One night, as usual, he fell asleep to the open sky. But, unlike usual, he had a vision. A vision of the Arcanist. No words were exchanged, but, upon waking, Shadow’s mind was filled with all sorts of crazy ideas. Ideas that he felt compelled to try. But first, he needed a workshop.

With a new purpose driving him, he searched hither and yon for a suitable place, eventually finding a wellspring of power that would eventually become the lair of his clan. But it was not yet a clan. That only came after several months, when a mysterious dragon appeared by his door. He never did find out what brought her there, for she was mute, and he could never seem to become fluent in her sign language. Eventually, she retreated into solitude, but not before bearing him a child, Eliza, who would become his greatest prodigy, his greatest success, and greatest nuisance.

Since the arrival of more and more dragons, he has begun having increasingly grandiose dreams. Luckily for the others who live with him, he’s left them their autotomy – for the most part. Sometimes he drags one into one of his tests, and you don’t say no to the Shadow. Not even Eliza dares that, yet. Currently he’s working on a suit of Arcanic Dragon-armour designed to drastically increase one’s combat potential, based on his initial ‘improvements’ to Eliza . So far, it’s been…less than successful. There’s a reason his workshop is far away from everyone else’s’.
