The (Fake) Fortune-teller
“I see great fortune, and great risk in your future. Tread carefully my child, as anything can happen.” To anyone who might look at her, Moonlight is clearly a fortuneteller of some sort. Crystals and strings of beads are draped from her wings and feathers. She can almost always be found with a silk cloth tied around her head to keep her eyes clear. How much of this is truth, and how much is show can be hard to say. While there are some dragons who can actually see the future, Moonlight isn’t one of them. She may present herself as a fortune-teller, but she just does cold readings— plain and simple. Acting like someone she’s not is something Moonlight is intimately familiar with. She’s always been good at reading people. Even as a younger dragon, she was always very good at picking up the small details to figure out what others had been up to. A cold reading allows her to seem as though she read the past of her clients, convincing them that she can also tell the future for them. This brings her in a good bit of money, and she has no moral qualms about it. She tells them exactly what they want to hear and gets paid for it. What could be better? The other dragons in her clan don’t seem to have caught on just yet. Moonlight has even grown close to one of them recently, another Imperial named Firefly. Although they are not permanently mated, they have had a tempestuous relationship. There’s a spark between the two of them, and they’ve even mated before, producing a clutch of dragons that did not stay around long. Moonlight may be many things, but she’s certainly no motherly figure. Not suited for raising children at all. She never told Firefly about them— preferring to send her own children away as soon as they were hatched. |

If I am not mistaken, Moonlight is some kind of fortune teller or prophet, yes? Employing Arcane magics to lay out the future? I don’t believe a word of it. The stars need exact conditions to influence daily life!! I have to be prepared weeks in advance for certain alignments to have any effect on my coven, and the charts require to predict such alignments are extensive. I believe she is a sham. How terrible. |
