Lore keeper of sorts
Have you ever heard the tales that the elders tell the young? The ones about the Deadly Nightshade plants? No? Well, allow me to enlighten you about the dangers.

As by its name, it is deadly if consumed in large quantities. Elders will often warn hatchlings not to even eat one of these berries for they'll die within hours. Not true for most larger species of dragons, they'd need a fair bit to fall prey to the poison. However, that little half lie is just a cover up for what really happens if you consume small amounts of Deadly Nightshade over the course of just a few days...

"F-Father... Wh-What's happening??" the small hatchling sobbed as his scales started turning the dark, almost black, purple of the Deadly Nightshade berries around where the two dragons were. Wide-eyed and shaking the adult dragon quickly rushed the scared transforming hatchling to the nearest healer, who examined him before giving the small creature something to calm him and to help him sleep.

"Nightshade Syndrome." the healer spoke, its voice not distinctly male or female. "No cure I'm afraid. Commonly affects Shadow Hatchlings more then any other element as it's hard to tell which Nightshade plants are poisonous or not." the cloaked dragon paused, looking over the worried male dragon before it. "Your son I'm guessing?" a nod in confirmation to that. "I see..."

The healer shuffled back into its den before coming back out with parchment and a bottle full of ink that had a long brilliantly red Phoenix Quill sticking out of the top. "Was he going to be sent to another clan?" the mysterious dragon asked in a soft tone. "Yes." the dragon's voice was smooth with a hint of age and experience to it. "I was taking him to the Auction grounds when his scales started changing color." the healer nodded and wrote something down, Skydancer like paws appearing from the folds of their black cloak. "I see, well. Continue with that as planned. Only-" they quickly wrote several things down on the parchment, using a soft breath of flame, that did nothing to illuminate their face, to quickly dry the ink before rolling the parchment up and tying it with a black and purple iridescent ribbon.

"Give this to his buyer, they need to know even if he ends up being exalted later on." the dragon handed the other the rolled up parchment. "But whatever you do, do not open that. It is for the buyer's eyes alone to read. Understand?" the shadow colored male nodded. "I understand. Thank you." with that he picked his son up and placed him on his back, tucking the parchment away in the bag he had brought for the journey, thanked the healer once again and started on his way once more.

"Good luck... And be careful. Nightshade Dragons are some of the most deadly..." the healer lifted their hood, the same dark, almost black, purple scales that the hatchling had glittered in the little light that shone in between the branches.

Days went by and the hatchling, now placed on the Auction House with little to no interest, began to discover more of his powers, his teeth let out a black ink sort of substance when he caught his food and he'd find that his prey would die much quicker then some of the other hatchlings' prey. Because of this he was often left alone as others were afraid that he'd bite and they'd be poisoned as well. Oh well, that's just the price to pay when you're a Nightshade Dragon...

Eventually, though, he was found by a small bright green male Spiral who dragged him back to the dragon he had come with to help buy fodder. Well... That didn't quite happen. The bright purple dragon took a bit of a liking to the darker purple colored one and decided that he'd buy him and keep him about, though he was approached by the hatchling's father first and was handed the scroll that the healer wrote some time ago. Heading home it was nightfall before the bright purple dragon unrolled the parchment and read what was inside.

My deepest apologies, the Nightshade wasn't suppose to spread like this. It's infected the hatchling you've just obtained and it cannot be cured. Be careful around him, for his bite is as deadly as the deadly plant itself. His claws may occasionally glow green and when that happens... avoid him until the glow goes away. For when the glow becomes too bright, some may just become infected as well...
Again, my deepest apologies. The Nightshade wasn't suppose to spread like this.

What did this dragon mean by "The Nightshade wasn't suppose to spread like this"? More questions then answers followed the little hatchling and it seemed as though he had somehow stumbled upon a forbidden tale that had long since been lost...
There's a reason dragons fear the shadows... You never know what could be hiding in the darkest of places....
