Little is known about Baphomet's life before he came to Haven. What is known is that his parents were members of a small tribe of Wildclaws forced out of their homeland by new settlers. Baphomet was born blind and Azazel, his closest companion, and tribe-mate has been his eyes since they were both small. Not that he needs anyone's eyes as he gets around just fine on his own, but Azazel insists and Baphomet enjoys his company.

The reason they left and ended up in Haven is debatable, but the truth is that with their tribe struggling for food Baphomet thought it wise to leave. After all, that would mean one less mouth to feed and even at his young age he was already quite the survivalist. When he left Azazel followed closely behind him, ignoring all protest and pointing out that this would make two less mouths to feed.

Baphomet didn't argue.

When they arrived in Haven Azazel was quick to voice his dislike of the place but Baph couldn't deny that something had drawn him there. But oh how right Az was. Haven was a terrible place full of folk with forced smiles and funny ideas about the Plaguebringer and their seemingly divine leaders, the Sawyers. Mortimer welcomed them both with open arms, happy to have some new blood in their old town. Many times Azazel tried to convince him to move on and many times Baphomet turned him down, fully convinced they needed to be there. At least for a while.

That reason ended up being Mordecai, much to Azazel's chagrin. Mordecai didn't have many friends before they showed up. In fact, he didn't have any friends. But there was something about the angry young man that drew Baph in. Something beneath the surface that was thoughtful and kind despite his hostile environment and rough upbringing. And the day that Mordecai asked them to run away with him was the start of something beautiful. A bond in brotherhood that would be tested, but never broken.

The day Mordecai decided to run away from Haven was the day that Baphomet and Azazel left too. He'd come to tell them goodbye but Baph had refused to let him go on his own, meaning Azazel also refused because the two of them were attached at the hip. Mordecai had agreed but truthfully it wouldn't have mattered one way or the other. They were going too whether he liked it or not.. And it was a good thing they did seeing as they actually knew their way around outside of Haven.

For five months they lived and survived on their own out in the woods of the Wasteland. Just the three of them without a plan and going nowhere. And then they met Warren.

Mordecai took to Warren quickly. Baphomet didn't need eyes to see that he looked up to the man the way a boy looks up to his father. He'd taken all of them under his wing, yes, but it was Mordecai who had most of his attention. So when things went south there none of them were fully prepared for the fallout.

They went on without Warren to create the Blight Touched, the new and improved Sawyer gang. Heck, they even put down roots eventually in some abandoned territory called Wormwood Gorge. For years they had moved from here to there, always one step ahead of a mob or some lawman that wanted their heads. Just a step. Now they had a real place where they could hang their hats and it was well hidden to boot.

Nowadays Baphomet still acts as one of Mordecai's Right-hand men. He's the one who's there to talk Mordecai down off the ledge, the voice of reason between the three of them. He's a kind and thoughtful soul despite his outlaw lifestyle, much more likely to let those he robs go without hardly a scratch on them- so long as they corporate. Violence, to him, is the last resort instead of the answer to a problem.

Though he was born blind, Baphomet has very little trouble finding his way around. He relies heavily on his other senses instead, especially his sense of smell. That doesn't stop his best friend Azazel from trailing around behind him like a lost wolf pup. Baph is the first to tell him that he worries too much but Az won't hear any of it. He wants to be there as he says, "just in case" because "you can never be too sure."

Baphomet handles most of the talking when the gang makes the rare deal with other clans. These days that job mostly falls on Moya's shoulders as he's much less intimidating and thus easier to talk to. But Baphomet still does his part, mostly helping with the hunting when Mordecai doesn't need him. He enjoys being out in the woods surrounded by nature and the sounds that accompany it.

SEXUALITY: Bisexual

RELATIONSHIPS: Chiyotairyu

BELONGINGS:

• The hunting bow that belonged to his father and a black bead necklace that belong to his mother. It's all the tribe was able to recover after his parent's death.

• Books that Azazel got specifically to read to him. Most of them are books about herbs and wildlife.

• A leather satchel that he carries around everywhere with various healing herbs and bandages, just in case.

OTHER BITS OF INFO:

• Baphomet prefers hunting with his father's bow. He hunts by scent and sound alone, surprising those who don't know him with his good aim.

• Unlike the other members of the gang who typically ride boars and bison, Baph rides a large elk when he travels. His name is Tuke and the two share a strong bond.

• When Azazel suffers a seizure, Baphomet is the one who knows exactly what to do and seems to have a knack for sensing when they're about to happen before they do.
