Biography

Ischemic Branch
Though the smallest in numbers, the Ischemic Branch is a powerful influencer upon clan dynamics. It attends to all cultural and spiritual observances, such as the training of exaltees. This branch is led by the founder of Shatterpoint's current iteration, Shamyllyn.

Clergy
Those that make up Shatterpoint's clergy are considered exemplars of their element's ideals, whether born into it or adopted. However, this is a less religious group than it would initially seem; they honor the Plaguebringer's tenets but ultimately take on the clan's ambitions as their primary focus. Therefore, it's not uncommon for them to provide assistance to members of the other branches, such as supplementing the militia or aiding the genetics team with research into infectious disease.

Exaltee Prep
Outsiders might find it odd that two-thirds of this small team aren't even of Plague. To residents, it's taken in stride as an example of the universality of Plague ideals. To be fair, the exalt trainers are still led by a premier native practioner, and there's no doubt they are every bit the vicious survivor.

At Shatterpoint, the exaltation process is not an elaborate one. Selected exaltees are trained primarily for combat, with a nominal focus on the clan's specialties, before being sent off to serve the Plaguebringer in a minimal ceremony.

Shalmyllyn
Clan Elder
Ischemic Branch of the Triumvirate - The Betrayer and Betrayed - Voice

"An inefficient virus kills its host. A clever virus stays with it."

In another life, she was part of a small Plague clan, but in a resources dispute with Shatter Point (then under a different name and Lightning’s banner), they were overcome and subsequently conquered. In an act of mercy, the remaining survivors were rounded up and absorbed into the clan, granted the rights of full members so long as they pulled their weight. As an elder member, Shalmyllyn found herself the de facto leader of these remnants, and with time, she cultivated a steadily growing faction of those loyal to the Filthy One.

The limits of her patience far-reaching, she spent years blending in and posturing as a productive member of the clan, all the while planting slow-growing seeds for when she’d see her kind take back their place. Her plot culminated in a coup thrown during the Thundercrack Carnivale, as the celebration was one of the few times the clan's workers could be caught lax and unaware. Many perished, some were driven out, and it ultimately ended with the abandonment of the labs in the Shifting Expanse's seaside cliffs.

In the immediate aftermath, she resettled the clan and all portable equipment to the Plague lands, claiming as their home a massive shattered, crumbling bone spire half-sunk into the Wyrmwound. Situated on the pustule lake's southeastern shores, they established a massive complex, playing both the role of bunker and research facility. Their territory spans a small slice from this point, with tunneling and irrigation systems reaching out all the way to the Sea of a Thousand Currents.

Shalmyllyn upholds the clan's genetic research and cybernetics production as its main focus, but she's recently aimed for a gradual militarization, growing their armed forces and providing combat training to current members. They remain fairly isolated, with no grand plans for expansion, but it would not do to live in so hostile a land without being prepared to defend what is theirs.

It's a careful balance that must be maintained, for engineers still make up a large faction within the clan, and while she freely speaks ill of the former matriarch's poor management, she cannot afford to criticize Lightning's ideals so openly. Even with the move, most pay as much homage to Stormcatcher as they do to the Plaguebringer, and it's to Shalmyllyn's benefit to show respect for that. They did, after all, overtake her former clan in fair combat, and she can admire the adaptability Lightning is known for - survival through cleverness and wits, rather than brute force.

As head of the Ischemic branch of the Triumvirate, she's responsible for upholding Plague's ideals and traditions. Any religious rites must be approved and overseen by her, and in this way, she serves as the beating heart of the clan, their tether to Plague's history and culture. Drakka may determine the clan's future, but Shalmyllyn is the one that makes sure that future brings glory to the Plaguebringer.

Quote:
-Typical Plague impulsiveness and attitude tempered by time spent in Lightning, despite her persistent denial. She's surprisingly organized and rational, and this is probably what helped keep everything running smoothly after her coup.
-Versed in entropy magic, stealing the vitality of the living to weaken her opponents. Can cast auras in an area that sap strength and disorient any unwary beings that stumble upon the spell. She's used this to do things from inducing paralysis in enemies all the way to using the drained energy to heal herself and allies. This ability also extends to the recent dead, upon which she can draw to herself any residual life force. In the Scarred Wasteland, this is abundant.
-Luxurious black and red hide has faded into a sickly coloration from her deeper studies into Plague magic; wings green and black with necrosis; skin faded to near translucency with slick, red flesh and veins visible beneath. Jagged bone spurs sprout up through her skin as extensions of her vertebrae, bleached white by constant exposure to the sun.
-Every now and then, she randomly dons an exquisite set of celadon wing silks, a gift from her eldest son. Despite how out of place it is with the rest of her attire, wise clanmates know to bite their tongue. She is a proud mother, albeit a stinky and rancid one.
-It's speculated the skull she wears once belonged to an Imperial, that of a juvenile that perished not days after hatching. It dates back to her old clan, and a taint of dark magic clings to it. She's never told the full story, but there are words about the death of an entire clutch and its parent, about her wariness around the clan's Imperials, and her unusually high level of regulation over Aytzen's experiments.
-Mask is tainted with Plague magic, but it's much better than the stench of Shade.
