ABOUT. Achlys is a worrier at heart. She worries about her friends, her adopted family, their familiars, their distant cousins... You get the idea. Still, it's nice to have someone who cares as much as she does. Her heart is too full of affection to not share with those who need it. Strangely enough, her job calls for no such thing. She's a Wastebug hailing from a rather renown clan in the Scarred Wasteland, who came to the Clan of Rattling Bone while it was still in its early years. She was a bright-eyed young thing, keen to seek her fortune, and was fortunate enough to find her calling in alchemy. The clan had a need for an alchemist, and she fit the job perfectly. Nowadays, she spends her days crouching over her battered cauldron (it's been through a lot), tagging along with Ersa, her best friend, and quietly crushing on Ictus from afar. As an aspiring student of alchemy, Achlys hungrily devoured every bit of knowledge she could get her claws on, which wasn't much, considering that most tomes were full of jargon she didn't understand and there was no one to teach her at all. That is, until a certain wandering alchemist stopped at the clan for a short rest, which turned into a permanent stay. Zurina mentored her for five years, then declared that she had nothing more to teach the pearlcatcher. The two now have separate laboratories in the clan and are friendly rivals. As for her anxious, concerned nature, Achlys is well aware that her sometimes too-eager efforts to help aren't always welcome. Still, she can't help but wonder about the 'what if's, because if there is one thing to learn about being born in a Plague clan that embodied the very spirit of the flight itself, it is this: Nothing lasts forever in the Wasteland. If no one worries, she will. IMPRESSIONS. You wouldn't know it looking at her, but she'll dig her heels in on matters she cares strongly about. The kind of girl you bring home to your parents who will get into a fight with your bigoted uncle. Always has an odd (faint, but odd) smell about her. Not entirely unpleasant. In her free time she dabbles in making perfumes ... to limited success. PAST. Achlys's home clan was a large one, even by Plague standards. She spent her childhood studying healing magic and her adolescence studying alchemy -- later deciding that she preferred the former. Her parents were supportive but distant, and she had few friends. When they up and left, Achlys saw no reason to stay. For a few months, she spent time in the Forum of the Obscured Crescent, apprenticed to another alchemist who was studying the pool. Then she wandered to the Molten Scar, stayed for a week before deciding that the heat was just too much, and felt too homesick to go anywhere else but home. She stumbled upon the Clan of Rattling Bone almost entirely by mistake. RELATIONS. Ersa: Best friend. Ersa's always ready to ditch a party to keep her company. Zurina: Former teacher. Achlys picked up advanced and experimental alchemy from her, and has an enormous amount of respect for Zurina. Alderrim: Not a friend. Achlys had a very close run in with Alderrim, and occasionally has nightmares about his wife's teeth.
