ABOUT. There is only one thing you should know when it comes to understanding Zurina as a dragon: she takes more pride in the things she has accomplished than the gifts she hatched with. Born to a long line of renown cursebreakers and wardcrafters, Zurina found that her calling lay not in intangible spells and jinxes. It took her many years to realise that her desperate attempts to vanquish even the simplest of spells were better spent elsewhere. The calling came in the form of a visiting alchemist from a faraway land. Their name is now forgotten to time, but Zurina remembers being fascinated by the power to alter materials-- metal, fabric, glass, and much more-- at a fundamental level. In a sense, it was not unlike how she had been taught to break curses as a child: reverse-engineering them was a process she enjoyed but never quite found as satisfying as the actual art of alchemy itself. The rest was history: Zurina took up the practice, devoting herself fully to the art and travelling Sorineth to learn all she could from the best. When she stopped at the Clan of Rattling Bone for a quick pick-me-up, she was approached by a certain aspiring alchemist, a young pearlcatcher by the name of Achlys. Achlys asked for a few tips, but Zurina could see the enthusiasm in her eyes that felt oddly familiar. It was like looking into a mirror, watching her younger self plead for a chance to delve into a passion that would soon become her life. She chose to stay. But there is only so far she can run from an inescapable past. Her born talent as a cursebreaker has come back to haunt her time and time again, and although she has been able to quietly solve or get rid of the problems that have come knocking on her door, there is a storm brewing on the horizon, bringing with it the biggest test of her abilities and a face she will soon come to know... and love. IMPRESSIONS. Has conversations at breakneck speed. Prizes efficiency, and would thank you to do the same. Hides discomfort by talking faster; really, you're going to need a good ear if you are to keep her attention. Has some alchemical scars on her paws and forearms. Hazards of the job. She didn't wear gloves in her youth, and now the pain has sunk into the fine bones. Zurina has few regrets, but this is one of them. PAST. Former cursebreaker, somewhat of a chip on her shoulder -- didn't you read the ABOUT. section? Ah, fine. The day Zurina realised she was not cut out for cursebreaking (and said so), her parents disowned her. She embarrassed herself and them by begging to stay. Two days later, after a screaming match ended with furious tears, she packed up her things and never looked back. KIN. Achlys: Former apprentice. Zurina's a fantastic alchemist and a not-so-good teacher, but she's proud of Achlys. Aoph: Client. Zurina avoids unnecessary questions and Aoph remains truthful to her. That's all.
