Abandoned by those she thought loved her while on the cusp of death, Moira commonly jokes that it was spite that spurned her sudden regain of health and facets of brutality. It's an easy answer and one that draws less curiosity and wariness than the truth.

Moira is Shade-Touched, her life clawed back by the very thing that put her near death to begin with. She has no idea when, or where, she contracted the condition - her habit of exploring dungeons in early adulthood had likely returned to bite her at some unknowing time.

But she is alive, and she is angry at the thing that makes it so. She feels it clawing at the corners of her mind, sees things beyond her mortal ken, and wonders with increasing worry when she will stop being her. It will happen eventually, she knows, no matter how stubborn she is, her willpower is a finite thing compared to its hunger.

And so she lives and she fights, striking down the bestial shade-touched with a fervour and prays that when the time comes someone will do the same for her.
