Herald and Tea Master

SwiftCloud was a dragon of privilege and wealth, the son and heir of an old and prosperous merchant family of the Cloudscrape Crags. He was taught like the nobility, the fine arts of the sword, tea making, dance, politics, language, history, and philosophy. As part of his heritage he was given a sacred talonclasp pendant which brought luck to the holder -but it also sapped the color from one’s scales over time. SwiftCloud had the bad habit of leaving the pedant with his clothing before going to his sword lessons, which lead to the thief LapisLazuli stealing the item while he trained. Enraged by the theft, SwiftCloud swore to get the pedant back no matter the cost.

So, he took his whole retinue of servants and his treasure savings and set off in search for the thief. Lapis led him on a trail all over Sornieth, and to his great frustration, she also left him notes and jokes about what he should do in his travels. After nearly missing her once again, he decided to take her advice and visited a restaurant in Viridian Labyrinth which specialized in shellbugs. To his amazement the food was delightful! After that he continued to follow the Spiral, but began to heed her notes more and more. From bathhouses to shopping to beautiful vistas, he began to realize the beauty of the world around him. He learned to admire and take in the cultures and sights with an open heart, his view becoming more compassionate to those he would have considered beneath him.

But this lesson was too late, for in his pride and arrogance SwiftCloud had slowly but surely driven away most of his servants- that and his now dwindling treasure trove. Still he chased after the thief, though his reasons for doing so had changed. He finally cornered her in Reefcleft Ascent, and she bowed in defeat before handing him the pendant. He offered the pendant back to her, thanking her for showing him the beauty of the world. In turn she coiled around him and asked for a different gift, that of his love- which he accepted.

They ended up traveling to the Sea of a Thousand Currents, where SwiftCloud has found work as a herald for the Seers. He delivers the messages they divine from the currents to their recipients, and he takes great pride in his work. He has even obtained the Blessing of Secrecy from MaidenTide in order to keep the secrets of the seers and insure his integrity.

He did make amends to his servants, LarkSpur specifically he sought out and apologized to directly. He invited her to the clan to become an incense maker, and in return teaches her the art of tea. SereneTea is also one of his pupils, and grower of the plants for his teas. He purchased the plants and trained them her how to care for them. He prepares the tea land mixes of herbs and spices in his spare time, hosting tea pouring parties at Stella Alba Springs owned by SpringOasis. SwiftCloud and Lapis often take vacations around Sornieth, making sure to bring back stories and gifts to the clan.
