PERSONALITY
G2Z2EOC.png

Karas is perhaps among the most wicked dragons in the lair. She is aggressive to her core and finds delight in riling up her clanmates. She has a insatiable lust for violence and conflict. Her affinity for combat and personal training has developed her into a fierce soldier. Karas is merciless and relentless in battle, bordering on cruel if given the chance to toy with her prey. Her commitment to defending the clan from any type of threat is likely her only redeeming factor.

There is no room in her heart for love or loyalty. Karas sees other dragons as possessions and things to manipulate. She does not commit to a mate, yet loathes those around her that are claimed by another. Karas frequently tempts dragons with partners using her beauty and wit. To split two dragons apart through conflict is her greatest pleasure.

BIOGRAPHY

Karas was born in the midst of turmoil and the first sparks of a revolution. The war that surrounded her from the moment of her birth would shape the young dragon forever. Her mother, the energetic and charming Iris, came from a loving and moral family. Her father, the quiet and powerful Danger, was one of the wardens of the Tempest Asylum. When the two happened to cross paths in the lair, the connection was electric. They kept their relationship a secret and met between Danger's shifts. Soon they had their first nest, and Lily, Karas' elder sister, was born. Iris' relatives were in shock, but could not bear to refuse family, and took the icy-coated dragon into their den.

The other wardens were less receptive to the news of the new hatchling. They harassed Danger for falling for such a delicate dragon. Danger desired that they would not meet again, fearing Iris would be at risk if they remained mates. But the night he intended to bid his farewell - with moonlight shining down on Iris' beautiful pelt - he could not bear to leave her. That night they held a passionate embrace.

Iris' next clutch was born, and the newborn hatchling, bearing crimson wings like her father, entered the world. Danger took her to grow up in the Asylum, promising Iris that if young Karas could become the Asylum's freshest warrior... she would have a chance.

Nemesis greeted the new hatchling with fang and claw. Rather than flee and scream, the young dragon retaliated by snapping at her attacker's claws. This pleased the tyrant, and he assigned Karas to be under Danger and Ziro's protection. Her father taught her to hunt and defend, and her new mentor instructed her on how to fight and dominate others. Karas was swift to acquire new skills. Nemesis would spontaneously attend training sessions and strike the young female with a single blow ferocious enough to knock her out cold. She would awake with fury and ambition in her heart. If she ever stumbled on Nemesis with his back turned, Karas would lunge for his vitals. Her attacks were ineffective against his armored hide, but the boldness of her actions spoke volumes. Nemesis claimed she had more passion and potential than his own daughters. He had sinister plans for dragonling.

There were times where Karas might wander and see the faces of her mother and sister. Karas felt no attachment to the two white dragons and she did not wish to have one. Lily was the type to prance around the clearing chasing fireflies with her half-brother, Styx. Karas was the kind of dragon that ripped the wings from such insects and watched them writhe in distress. She desired nothing of her gentler half.

Before Karas had become an adult, his mother's family and their allies, Clan Cosaint, rescued many dragons and their families from the clutches of the Asylum. With Iris' family safely evacuated, Danger returned to his mate's side at the Origin Spire. Here, Ryze formed a community of dragons that would preserve until they had the means to dethrone the tyrant. Karas, never knowing any other home but that under Nemesis' rule, struggled to adjust. Her mentor, Ziro, shouldered leadership alongside Ryze. Karas, desperate for orders, obeyed their every command. However, she grew restless being the subordinate of dragons that embraced compassion and understanding rather than aggression and superiority. She was a soul built to thrive in combat, not avoid it! Depression swallowed her, and she lashed out with unnecessary violence to cope with her emotions.

The growing clan did not approve of the young dragon's behavior, and attempted to quell her boredom with guard duty over the hatchery. The uneventful task would have driven her crazy if not for her introduction to another hatchling named Vorpal. He was the son of Ryze and his father was undetermined. Karas saw the familiar grey tones of Nemesis on the young male and she was filled with excitement. She sensed great power within this other dragon. He was only a child, but already smarter and stronger than those who hatched the same moon. Karas decided to protect this fellow hatchling fiercely. She believed Vorpal would become every bit as strong as Nemesis was and more. Karas wanted that. She needed it - for herself. To claim Vorpal as her own would be the ultimate prize.

Vorpal matured and did grow in strength and intelligence that rivaled even elder dragons of the lair, but he did not share Nemesis' ambition. On the contrary, Vorpal encouraged compromise and never so much as lifted a claw toward another dragon. Karas was not the only dragon to claim that Nemesis was his father, and Vorpal spent every minute of his life to prove them wrong. He devoted all his time to studying and tinkering. Karas was furious that this promised dragon, the prince of the Origin Spire, had become so cowardly. She attempted to corrupt his ambitions with those of unlimited potential and power, but he would not listen. She tried to seduce the male and envelope his every thought with one of her, but he paid no mind. Karas grew angrier than ever before.

She invested time, magic, and energy into becoming flawless. If he did not need her now, she would make him want her. Karas became obsessed with her appearance and maximizing her sex appeal. Her ragged wings became smooth, vibrant, and decorative. Her fur held a beautiful mix of contrasting shades. She was among the most fashionable, stunning, and desirable dragons in the lair. She demanded a handsome male named Takra to becoming her breeding partner. They produced many nests together, each hatchling as gorgeous as the last. She abandoned every youngling, having no time or interest to care for children. She had a particular male to seduce. The promiscuous female was certain the grey Skydancer she longed for would want what she had to offer.

Yet Vorpal still did not have eyes for her. There was a different female that had consumed his waking moments.

She was Lumi, a fellow inventor and previous inhabitant under Nemesis' rule. Having been taken to live in Clan Cosaint after the revolt, Lumi and Vorpal exchanged frequent letters and delivered inventions to one another. Karas sensed Vorpal's heart longing for a connection. But not for her. For Lumi.

Karas did everything in her power to sabotage their relationship. She sent forged letters to Lumi, posing as Vorpal, and spoke ill of Lumi and the budding relationship. Karas attempted to drive the white Skydancer away when she visited the Origin Spire, but Lumi proved as fierce and resilient as herself. And to Karas' terror, the passive Vorpal would stand assertively alongside Lumi, preventing harm from coming to her. Karas was livid. She exposed Vorpals secrets to the other female and warned Lumi that Nemesis' blood flowed strongly in Vorpal's veins. Finally, a dent was made, and Lumi wrestled with the possibility. Karas believed she had the final nail to Lumi's coffin. She brought a baby Skydancer forward, a newborn girl named Skia, and claimed it to be Vorpal daughter. Karas' daughter.

The pain this brought Vorpal was immeasurable. He loved Lumi, and had never touched Karas, but the seeds of doubt that Karas had planted in the fellow tinkerer's mind made his pleas as discredited as his heritage. In his grief, Karas approached the male and attempted to comfort him. She claimed to be far more beautiful and powerful compared to the one that broke his heart. She offered him a warm body, a nest, and a mate that would satisfy him forever.

Vorpal attacked.

With the strength of the infamous Ridgeback, Vorpal lunged at her with such severity and aggression that Karas knew nothing but fear in those moments. Not even the rake of Nemesis' claws compared to the ferocity he set on Karas. In his fury, red spines burst from his body. It was in this moment that the uncertainty behind his father was erased. He carried Ziro's blood in his veins. Not Nemesis'. If he were the tyrant's kin, those spikes would have been blue. But Ziro had given him vibrant genes that had yet to surface until that moment.

With her tail between her legs, wings tattered, and spirit broken, Karas fled from Vorpal's den. She would not tempt nor tease the male ever again.

Vorpal set to work repairing his bond with Lumi. At last he accepted the need for violence and risk of bloodshed in order to defeat a greater evil. Together they developed the technology that would overpower Nemesis and his army. Karas joined the fight and helped to defeat the Ridgeback dictator. She lost one of her new siblings, Harper, in the battle. When the war was over, Lumi and Vorpal stood together once more. They called each other mate, and even took Skia as their adopted child.

Karas returned to her duties as a soldier and hunter for the new Clan Tempest. She had seen Nemesis' end and Vorpal's rise. She had become beautiful, but felt alone. She now wanders the territory on scouting parties and missions more frequently than she takes shelter in the Spire's walls. Karas still finds pleasure in vanity, the company of others, and violence. She refuses to see others as sources of affection and love, only as useful assets sources potential to be unlocked. Karas took interest in her granddaughter, Varus, and commits her expertise to training the young Skydancer.

Karas is as fierce and unruly as ever. That won't change. She still grins at every turn and slashes at every opponent. She lusts for excitement, pleasure, and violence from any source.

But she will not dare interfere with Vorpal - the strongest and sharpest blade.
