Nausicäa The High Queen.
xxx Nausicäa was found on the highest cliffs of the Reedcleft Ascent as an orphan, crying for her parents, who were nowhere to be found. Kiriani was still in a precarious, having just fled to the Windswept Plateau after a savage war took out much of the clan. The new leader, Fay, however, took pity on the poor girl and took her under his wing.

As Nausicäa grew from a child to a young adult, it became painfully clear that she was not a regular child. Her magic was strong, so strong that she could barely control it. In a desperate attempt to rein in her own power, she journeyed to the highest point of the Reedcleft Ascent, where it was said that a wise sphinx would train only the strongest of mages. Nausicäa found this mythical creature through sheer luck, and spent an entire year training in the mountains. Upon her return, she had found ways to control and release her magic safely, and she was coronated a few eons after her return.

Now, as the clan's queen, she is tasked with keeping the clan running, tending to the problems of her people, and appointing others to positions of authority to work under her. Nausicäa consults the elders of Kiriani often for support and guidance, but she no longer relies on them, as she did just after her coronation. Her mate, Asbel, is captain of the guard, and he works with Azurewing to run Kirian's guards and watchpeople.

  • Nausicäa is a quite the legend around southern Sornieth, and tales of her strength often spread like wildfire--and are warped along the way. While she does indeed have immense magical power, as the myths say, she has never had the need to destroy an entire clan, and is very content working out disagreements diplomatically whenever possible, despite what the rumor mill may say.


  • Nausicäa's title of Queen is a bit misleading. She was found alone as a hatchling, and, as far as anyone knows, she is not a descendent of any royal family. However, as a child, Azurewing jokingly began calling her "princess," and the title stuck--mostly as a way to legitimize her in the eyes of other clans.


  • Her familiar, Lianya, came to her as she trained with the sphinx atop the highest point in the Windswept Plateau, sent by the Windsinger Himself to keep an eye on this potentially dangerous young woman--not that anyone knows that.


  • Nausicäa is quite fond of birds, and so will often nurse sick or injured ones back to health. She has a particular soft spot for owls and hawks.


  • Though she has trained herself to be able to totally control her magic, another problem she faces is her absolutely immense magical capacity, coupled with the unmatched rate at which it replenishes. As a result, Nausicäa is constantly exuding wind magic, which serves the dual purpose of keeping her magical stores in check and allowing for dramatic wind gusts whenever she feels the need to punctuate a point.
