Asbel Queen's Consort.

Born into a family of prestigious knights and warriors, Asbel was given the best training and education in his birth clan, located in the Cloudsong. However, while he was too young to fight in the second Battle of the Bay, many in his clan, including his mother and father, were sent off to fight. Though the forces of the Windsinger were eventually victorious, much of his closest family was killed in the great battle. When he heard of this, Asbel shattered his pearl in a fit of rage and grief and fled.

It was only after this that he and Nausicäa ran into each other--quite literally, as they crashed into each other in the air due to Nausicäa's careless flying. It ultimately turned out for the best, however, because Fay took him into the clan, where he and Nausicäa became fast friends. They journeyed far and wide together, exploring much of the Windswept Plateau, and fell in love along the way. While they do not have the time to go galavanting across Sornieth much anymore, their bond remains as strong as ever.

Asbel's rapier was a wedding gift from Firedancer. Its balance is unmatched, and thanks in part to his weapon he is known as one of the best duelists in all of the Windswept Plateau.
While he used to despise Arcanites for what they had done to his family, Asbel has worked to overcome his prejudices--after all, discrimination is unbefitting of the consort of a queen. In the many eons since, Asbel has made many Arcanite friends and allies, and while he will never forget his family, he knows that hating all of a flight for the actions of only some is foolish and unreasonable.
Calm and levelheaded, Asbel often has to prevent more brash warriors in the clan (in other words, Lydia) from picking needless fights while out on patrol.
While Nausicäa is more in-tune with the needs of her people, Asbel is more in-tune with the needs of the clan as a whole, and serves to ground her in reality and prevent her from being too unrealistic in her actions.
His familiar, Kronos, often slips in and out of the clan walls to quietly patrol the borders of the territory, and can often sense intruders before many of the clan can. Asbel chose to take Kronos as his familiar for that very reason, and Kronos serves as more of a hunting dog than an actual pet.
