Patchfield Personality: Patchfield keeps to himself, hiding away in his workshop with his mate. The only time the clan see him is when he has to get out of the cave to get more paper or ink. His mate is the one that's out and about more, getting the history of the clan and taking rec ords of events to bring back to Patchfield to, well, patch it all together. Thus his name. When a dragon talks to him, their met with a not-to-nice grunt and a wave of the tail. A gesture that says 'I'm working'. Usually he is. Patchfield isn't mean or not pleasant to be around, he's just constantly buried in his work. It is hard to get him to come out of the den to have fun as there is always something to do, and he hates having work hanging over his head. During the slow times of the clan, he finds himself with free time, and he uses this time to go out and explore a bit. Go to a few local markets, get some food, and practice cooking. Cooking is one of his passions, he just doesn't have a lot of time to actually work on it with the amount of writing he has to do. Writing, rewriting, checking, re-checking, everything a scribe has to do in a few years he can do in a few weeks. His skills are almost impeccable. That isn't to say that he doesn't make mistakes, but he's almost perfect at what he does. Almost. While many clan dragons don't know what he is like, his mate can attest that Patchfield is a very kind and warm dragon. When their working together, he is nothing but helpful and fun to be around. While he seems serious on the outside, he actually is a joker when around his mate. He can't help but make witty puns to brighten the day a little bit, even if they make his mate cringe. |
History:
His home in shadow didn't really please him very much. It was boring. When he was young, he had nothing to do other than sit there and look cute. His siblings seemed to love it, but not Patchfield. He would have much rather been doing something, anything, than waiting for the day he was sold or exalted. His parents didn't seem to see it that way as they traveled from market to market. He knew his life would be whatever the clan that bought him wanted it to be, but Patchfield already had an idea in mind. He wanted to be a cook. Sadly, the clan that first purchased him made him into a scribe. He studied the way of writing documents and tracking history and events that took place in the clan and got to work.
He became a good scribe, and he takes his job seriously, but he wasn't enjoying it. The work was lonely and it took forever. He needed help. That was when he met Sweetdew, his mate. The two started working together in the same clan and quickly became partners. If they worked together they could finish most of their work without a problem. They became fast and dedicated with keeping records, so much so that some clans were eager to have the pair work for them. Patchfield was getting sick of being sold, however. He and Sweetdew left the clan they worked for and made their way around the world, in search of a clan where they could do their jobs and be happy A clan where they would be appreciated for the skills they have.
It took a lot of searching, but Patchfield finally found a place where he an Sweetdew could be happy. A nice little Arcane clan, a place that needed a pair of scribes getting information and keeping the records of the clan neat and in order. Patchfield got to work as soon as they arrived, trying to catch up on everything the clan went through while he and Sweetdew were elsewhere. While he wrote, Sweetdew gathered the information he needed and presented to him in the form of documents. The dynamic duo had caught up on the clan's whole history after only being around for a week or so. Then they got to work on the more recent information. Other dragons can say what they want about the two, but they always complete their work.
