____Within the trees, a shadow lurks.
____She moves like a spirit between the thorns, too large to be beast or beast clan, too feral to be drake. Stories swirl among the locals - Some say she was born from the trees themselves, no egg nor parent to speak of, sprouting from the spilled sap of a pine fully grown and hungry. Some say she was left there, abandoned, raised solely by the denizens of the forest. Some believe tales of her to be myths, stories told to prevent hatchlings from wandering too far from the nest. Whatever those neighboring the forest believe, the inexorable facts remain - a protector haunts those woods.
____Evidence of her can be found for those who care to look. Trails of stomped dirt crisscross the trees, claw marks scored into bark, seemingly without rhyme or reason. Occasionally, larger evidence is stumbled upon - the bones of a would be logger or poacher, slain alongside the tools of their trade.
____To the outside world, it remains a mystery how any could live in the shadows of whoever (or whatever) ghosts along that territory. Yet somehow, those of clan Hiraeth come and go, living in peace in a land no one else would dare to tread. If any is asked how or why they live, unscathed, they cite a mere appreciation of the forest, a need to respect the wishes of any living being.
____Those neighboring the territory only see the flash of teeth in the shadows, the glint of hungry eyes, before turning to their own business. Respect or not - angering the creature that lives within seems too dangerous to risk.
