Biography
This is a busy old woman. Not only does she manage the nesting grounds but she also tends to the dead. Her familiar keeps watch over the graveyard, while she's busy tending to other things.
Mate:
I literally imagine two old ladies perfectly in love and it's the sweetest thing
Elder {A} is the healer, the mother. She knows how to care for the children, how to raise them, how to make sure they grow up to be amazing adults. She knows every herb for healing, and killing. Patience is a virtue, but Kindness is a necessity. Basically taken after the personalities of Hygge and a few other dragons. Can help in labor. Put in some other things here from the Healing Faction.
Here in the crystal caverns, dragons must take their right of passage. I wonder if your will is strong enough to survive.....
The Crystal Caverns are a magical part of the clan. Made from a mysterious magic long lost to the modern breeds, it's now used as a sort of testing ground to separate the weak from the strong. Even the Guardians, who have been here long before the Orenda clan, have any idea where it came from. They recognize its magic, but cannot decipher it. Those who come back from the Crystal Caverns say they've faced their darkest fears there. Many say it is a test against themselves, rather than whatever surrounds them. A "reflection of the heart" type of test.
Only the heart of hearts can survive.

Eunoia - Greek - (yoo-noy-yah) - a pure and well-balanced mind; a good spirt; "beautiful thinking"
Nesting Grounds Caretaker
Eunoia definitely got her kindness and compassion from Hygge. That old woman showed her a lot when she was brought into the clan, thanks to the Young Prince and his new movement. Although she does not have nearly as much patience as Hygge does, she definitely has more than most dragons. Through their tantrums and cries, Eunoia validates the hatchlings feelings, shows them a different alternative, and comforts while letting them grow to be independent. This is what led her to be the perfect role as a Caretaker - there was no one else better suited than her!
The nesting grounds are borrowed deep under the ice, near the arctic water. Usually that would be a bad move, but these aren't normal eggs they're incubating. They're ice eggs. The colder they are, the better they incubate. Of course, they can't get too cold - otherwise it risks the hatchlings inside. It's similar to how eggs need to stay really, really warm, but you don't need to absolutely boil them to help the eggs hatch.
Eunoia has a Maren Defender friend, which helps her defend from the seas and also helps take watch when Eunoia needs to take a break/nap. Usually you have more than one dragon take care of the hatchlings, but there aren't a lot of adult dragons that breed in this clan. So one is sufficient enough to watch the nests. Besides, the parents are there half of the time, and they're there to build/soften the nests for their children. They just need to leave when duty calls - and that's where Eunoia steps in. She has a little cubicle built into the ice above the nests, so she can watch them from above. That's also where she lives, because the nesting grounds is her area - that's where she needs to be at all times.
Eunoia will sometimes take breaks to go and play with her maren friend,Yara, and gather resources. Yara goes to gather some special seaweed that you can eat that will allow you to breathe underwater, but she will only gather some for her friend. She doesn't like the idea of doing it for the entire clan, so she just dropped a few hints here and there that lead them to the area where they grow - under the condition that they ONLY take what they need.
Anyways, Eunoia takes her job seriously, and takes care of the young ones from the time they hatch, to when they're old enough to help out the clan and gather resources. That's where another dragon steps in to take over the process, until the hatchlings are old enough to obtain a name and train to get sent off to the Icewarden as Frigid Warriors.
It takes a patient dragon to raise a Longwing Epiptite from a larvae. This is true. Hygge has the patience, and she has the time, so why not? These creatures buzz a delightful little sound from their wings, and the moonlight radiates a beautiful blue light off of their bodies during the night. Plus, with a little bit of training, they can recognize different plants - things you need to gather for herb recipes, or are just hard to find. That's more eyes in the sky, and less time out in the field to get ambushed on. After the first generation of Longwing Epiptite, Hygge has taken a liking to raising these creatures under careful care. In turn, these creatures give back to that love and care in their own way.

Need to hire a writer to re-write all of this for Orenda. Need to chain name to Hygge. Base her character off of Gram. Also known by others as “Old hag Hygge”. Can be stern, but still has a big heart - especially for her grandkids. Don’t tell anyone, but Areyorenda is her favorite grandchild! Saudade is Hygge’s grandchild, although she’s old enough to be her daughter. Hygge took Saudade underneath her wing and helped her blossom into a wonderful leader. When Saudade mentions this, Hygge brushes it off to the side, often replying with something like “You stop that! All you needed was a place to rest your heart, and some good, warm food. I gave you that and a little more, because you looked like you needed it. That’s all I did - something anyone could do.” To which Saudade would reply - “And yet no one did. No one gave me the shelter, the good food, and the loving care you did. The fact is that you took action and so it is also a fact when I say you took a part in me becoming a good ruler.” She guided the young Saudade and gave her much wisdom to not only lead a clan, but build a strong relationship with Cruz. They still don't know how old she is, and she won't say a word! Quote: "I love pretty, unfamiliar, unique things. When you gaze upon them, you have this feeling that you just can't leave them alone. And so - I take them in. How do you think I have so many children?" - Hygge Hygge is a witch of old. As an amazingly strong empath she can feed on others emotions. This gift however, was once a curse. She didn't know how to control it when she was younger and so this brought her a bunch of sorrow and pain. A bunch of the feelings and memories weren't even hers, herself - but when she feeds she will feel and experience them as if they were her own. She was one of the first few generations of dragons the deities created. Just as she grew tired of traveling and discovering the worlds secrets, she came across a tired young wildclaw and her small group of exhausted dragons. Hygge helped them get back on their feet and taught them a thing or two about the world. Once they set their sights on building a home on an island in between the ice and arcane flight, they asked her to go with them - and she did! There, Hygge was given a home and land to call her own. Having lost her sight, many dragons take pity on her. However, they do not realize that she is still as powerful as she has ever been. Her songs are her most powerful weapon (she can manipulate others depending on the melody). She has been blessed by the earth and by the light. The arcane father might have abandoned her, but she has never once abandoned herself. No matter how her beliefs may change, her heart will never falter. |
