Antares was born and raised amongst the Arcane mountains, part of a traveling band of Crystalspine seers that stole her egg and raised her as their own. Her never ending quest for knowledge and her powerful magic led her to abscond from her clan, knowing that she could never be happy if she'd been forced to look the other way to their questionable actions for the rest of her life.

Just an adolescent when she found herself alone for the first time, Antares was found by Caldera, an erstwhile member of the clan, and Cassiterite, the clans' own ambassador, while on one of their research missions. Fascinated by her tale and eager to introduce her to Arcturus, the two spirals extended the offer for her to live with the Arcana.

Desperately needing company and with nowhere else to go, Antares agreed, suddenly finding herself in a place where she had more freedom than she had ever known. Although a sizeable part of her was sad to leave behind the familiar, she has made many friends and learned a great deal about herself. She has traded her former life of a strict devotee for a much less organized brand of spirituality, spending a great deal of time in the clan's library as a recordkeeper as well as teaching (and learning) new methods and spells to dragons of all magical inclinations.

It took a while but her and Arcturus have grown fairly close. Despite their shared heritage he has no interest whatsoever in her spiritual pursuits, but is still a very good and patient listener. It's clear that he truly cares about her feelings and doesn't want her to feel alone, and although he can be a bit of a dope, is sweet to a fault, has a wonderful sense of humor, and some of the best company Antares has ever known. Preferring not to take on too many responsibilities at once, the pair only produce offspring very occasionally, ensuring that each of their children has the opportunity to learn their history and hone their craft to whatever degree they please before striking off on their own path.

With her soothing voice and exceptional magical insight, it didn't take long at all for the Arcana's leaders to ask Antares to join their council. Using her skills (often with a little help from Arcturus as she tries to keep him involved) she keeps a distant, watchful eye on the Arcana's territory borders as well as on the members of the Quiver who are off in other flights, searching for cures and remedies to the sickness that too much Arcane energy bestows upon dragons of other elements. True to her subspecies' nature, she is also a wonderful counselor and makes herself available at all hours of the day and night for any of her clanmates who need someone to listen or to give advice. Making sure that her friends and loved ones are doing well emotionally and psychologically is of tantamount importance to her.

Antares has vowed to pass on her culture's clairvoyant traditions in much more empathetic manner than that of her foremothers. Antares wants her progeny to be sent out into the world knowing that they are valuable simply because they are loved; if they choose to come to her to learn Arcane magic, she will teach them; if they choose another path, she will try her best to make it safe. These days, she does not sell the visions she sees for a profit, but rather uses them to help her clan and it's allies, and has become an esteemed and well-loved leader of a clan where everyone has a voice. ✧
