A foul odour permeates the air, subtle at first but with each silent step taken it strengthens. Rot. The sickening decay of flesh and the stale air of disease heralds Malaise's approach.

The local born of Light and Flights of other delicate sensibilities hide from her, cower. Those born of the sickened Plague wastes bow their heads in respect at her passing - her even stride takes her to a duty sacred, yet reviled. She holds her chin high, welcomed into grand halls and hovels alike.

The title of Corpse-Eater is a misnomer, and yet the process of Plague's death rites are so secretive that the assumptions are allowed to continue. Malaise takes pride in her duties, seeing to the Plague-born within Olympia, she helps them through life but ultimately prepares them for death. Theirs is a practice she knows is just barely tolerated, and to a point she understands. But she will not deny those loyal to their diseased matriarch their rites for the sake of the ruffled feathers of those who know nothing of it.
