"I am too young to have so many regrets.."

Born deep in the Snowsquall Tundra, Comet was the oldest of four siblings. Her mother, a coatl of similar coloration, was quick to abandon them and the Nocturne dragons were left in the care of their father. Though he did a good job the kids were a rowdy bunch and often disobeyed the lone parent. They would rough house and chase each other, often wandering out of sight or past a defined boundary. One day they went a little too far, and found themselves far from home as night fell. Luckily, the hatchlings ran into a herd of migrating Tundra's that night and stayed with plans to return home the next morning.

Little did they know the Tundras had their own plans of moving throughout the night. With the children in tow they mozied silently across the snow squall until the wee hours of the morning. When Comet awoke she didn't recognize the snowy land. Their were no landmarks or scents telling her which way was home, and the frightened Nocturne roused her siblings in a panic. The frightful kids ended up waking the sleeping Tundras, and they tried to explain that they thought they were homeless, already lost, and were joining the herd, not just passing through. Comet felt sick with dread, and the kids quickly flew back in the direction the Tundra's pointed out to them.

But it was not to be. A heavy snow had started to fall, something they were used to but never able to fly in. Taking shelter in the closest copse of tree's the Noctures stared in horror as the Tundra tracks disappeared in the snow along with everything else. They huddled together, sad and hungry, until the snow lightened and they could continue on. It took days to find anything that looked familiar, but the nest they called home was abandoned when they finally found it. Their fathers scent was stale, the place covered with snow. He had gone.

~ ~ ~

Surviving on their own in the unforgiving cold land was a harsh lesson. As the biggest sibling, and the most outwardly calm, Comet was seen as the sort of leader to the small band. She picked the directions they moved and when they needed to get up, but most things were shared. The few skills they had, what food they knew to find, it was hard but they were managing to survive.
On a deep, dark night the Nocturnes could hear whinnies and howls within the frozen trees. Their was something around them, something approaching. Comet told her siblings to run, fly, get out, and though fast and quiet this being was cunning. They never saw it, they would never know what it was, but they heard Phoenix's scream.

They couldn't find him the next day. Their was no sign, no blood, no trail. The siblings were heartbroken and couldn't bear the fought of staying anywhere near this being that had stolen their brother. Flying farther than they ever had before the crossed out of Ice territory and into unfimiliar ground. The trio ran into another group of dragons that graciously offered shelter and food until they wished to move on, and they took it without a second thought.

While there, Comet took it upon herself to learn to fight, using magics to keep herself out of harms way. The master she learned from wasn't the best, but he knew enough to give her both defensive and offensive skills, and Comet thanked him all the same. As the days passed a band of beasts set themselves against the camp of dragons and the shiny Nocturne could use her skills for the first time. She was by no means gifted, but she could feel potential in the skills and thanked her mentor once more.

Finally, it was time to leave. Rounding up her sister Comet looked for their brother, Miltiades, and was shocked to see him so close and natural looking with the local dragons. It was like he had always been here. Approaching him, she could see the shimmer in his eyes; he had been courted by the Mirror beside him. At their feet lay a nest, and her brother announced he would not leave them like their parents had.

It was a hard blow. Despite their kindness Comet had no plans to stay here. Only the youngest of her siblings remained by her side, Celena, a delicate little bean. Comet did all she could to take care of and protect her. Honing her magic and pushing herself to the limit, Comet became a powerful mage and provider to her sister, but the toll was quickly adding up on her body. The pair traveled as far as lightening territory together before Comet finally collapsed from over-exhaustion.

When she awoke the pair found themselves in an unknown lair, but the residents were kind enough to offer them space to stay. The clan chirurgeons protested her attempt to leave, saying she'd kill herself in that state. Weary and untrusting, the weakened Comet could do little else but accept the chance to regain her strength.

This place turned out to be kinder than she imagined. They tended her wounds, restored her strength, and made her sister smile. Comet was shaky on her feet, and though an insomniac she slept more than she had in a long time. Time quickly became a blur, and she missed many events that passed right before her eyes. At some point even Celena disappeared from the lair, being gone for an unknown amount of time before she realized it. Comet panicked, asking and searching for her, but their was no trace. The Nocturne was alone in a place far from her homeland.

Though the snow has long since called her home, the female knows there would be no happiness there without her family by her side. Despair shrouded her every thought.
She had nothing to be proud of, to be grateful for.
She had claimed responsibility and ran herself into the ground.
She had become a powerful mage, but failed what she was protecting.
She found a safe haven to call home, but did not have anyone to share it with.
She was a family oriented dragon that no longer had family.
She had nothing, no one, and no where to go.

- Purchased alongside her sister whom I still regret exalting.
- The clan hopes that bonding with a familiar will help bring her out of her despair.
