"When Snowflakes cover up the sky..
We will come." The dragon tortured by visions and voices "Where are you?" "Who's talking? What do you mean you don't hear it? How can you not hear it?" "What do you want?! I don''t understand!" "They're so loud, too loud. I can't think straight. Leave me alone! Leave me alone!!" "It's too much. I... huh...?" "The voices.. they speak to me. A warning...! But why me...?" "...yes, yes I understand. I.. I-I'll do what I can.." "Please, please you must listen. You'll die if you don't!!" "N-no! No, stop! You don't understand; I'm trying to help you! Please, listen, you must.... why won't..." "It's coming! You must, you must--- ahh!" "Why wouldn't they listen...?" ~ When she was born little Maggie was as cute as a marshmellow. The apple of her parents eyes, they loved their little girl to pieces. From the moment her eyes opened the child was looking and taking in everything. Her gaze would sweep in all directions, eyes wide and scanning even the far distance. Her parents laughed, saying she was eager to explore the moment her egg cracked- and that she was. When Magdalene took her first wobbly steps, no one could stop her. She would waddle endlessly, her head feathers perked, eyes wide, and mouth in a tiny triangle as through intensely listening and searching. Her parents thought it was the most adorable thing. But as she got older the doting parents started to wonder about their daughter. She acted strange quite often, like humming to no one, scratching at the ground, and flicking her head around as though watching a nonexistent bug. They would ask what she was doing but even the child did not seem to understand until, one day, her clan's philosopher approached. Everyone called the Spiral a loon, and when he said their was something special about the child her parents grew very worried. "She has a gift," he would say, "she can reach those not of this dimension." Skeptical at best the Coatl parents didn't know what to make of it. But Maggy got a little older, and they would notice more and more often her.. ability. She would sit, chitting to no one, drawing on the ground and pointing as though asking a question before swiping the picture away. Her parents would ask what shes doing but the child seemed too occupied to care. "I dont know where." She would say. "I dont get it." Their concern grew. Maggy was about 5 when things went too far. She stood at the mouth of their den, green eyes weird and distant as she stared out into the pouring rain. Something was calling her, she knew it, but it was so far away. Waddling out into the storm the Coatl tried to find the voice and make sense of its words. Wandering into the trees she could hear a river rushing nearby. It was swollen from the storm, and whitewater revealed that things had been swept under it. "..Here..?" The Coatl whispered. Here what? Its here, stay here, go here? Her tiny claws tapped the edge of the riverbed right as her parents swooped in and snatched her up. They were appalled, mortified as their child explained. "It told me to go here." They could no longer sit by when this 'thing' would lead their child to her death. They flew home, and were even more dismayed to find their den had been consumed by a mudslide. "It did this." They hissed, but Maggy just stared. No one was home. As a new den was being excavated the family had to live with the philosopher, though he was more than enthused to do so if it meant working with the child. - Tortured by and unable to properly interrupt/manage her visions. - Constantly assaulted by voices. What they say can be idle commentary, persuading jibes, warnings, omens, and anything inbetween. - Travels constantly, desperately searching for a cure for her 'condition' as well as a way to prevent events they tell her about. - Wishes to help people with her 'ability' but its too inconsistent to be truly useful. - She is actually a powerful Greater Mage. Her travels into dangerous places left her in need of defense, though these days she usually only uses her magic to preform tricks. - She uses what knowledge she has to ease Afflicted whos condition is much worse. |
