"When they found her in the mire, Eve scoffed and kicked the small egg away from her, its very presence making her wings jitter. To her, the WindSinger was a lazy and useless creature, and any of his children were unworthy of life. Akiha did not feel too greatly different about the WindSinger, but ventured that perhaps they could place the egg up for any shady character to have it in place for gold or food. This seemed like a sensible conclusion, and even Ares agreed, though he wouldn't so much as look at the tiny egg. To him, it was weak. Unworthy of being in The Enyo's lair even for a moment. However, that night, when Narcrath woke from his slumber and slipped out of his bed, he was surprised to see the small, helpless egg. It looked cold; Eve hadn't even given it so much as a blanket to keep the small child in it warm. Just gazing at the soft green shell made his heart ache for home, and he wrapped his long body around the egg, thinking that, for just a moment, it would help his heart feel at ease. It was just as this moment that the shell cracked, and a small, sleepy-eyed fae clambered out of it and onto Narcrath's coils. He gasped, eyes welling up with joy as he gazed down at the tiny wind child. He vowed to protect her, and granted her her name: Kit, for both its meaning of hope and a reminder of the kites flown around his warm, breezy plains."
