Biography

Tropica, the Young Reaper
Come with me, little one..

When Tropica was born, Kama saw something in her that he'd seen in no other. There was a kindness in her soul that was unlike any dragon in his clan, and a magic in her blood that was never used for cruelty or greed. It was because of this that the spirit dancer Kama took special interest in the coatl, and taught her the ways of leading lost souls to the afterlife.

It was a gentle task; many times the souls were of small children who were fearful and confused. Being yanked away from life suddenly left the souls volatile and easily tainted, so it was very important that they were always handled with kindness and care, in order to protect them from the Shade. Tropica learned quickly the ways of Reaping, and it wasn't long before Kama's clan took notice of the two's remarkable gift.

Many grew envious. Others tried to tempt the small coatl, greed filling their hearts at the power that could be obtained from soul harvest. Kama was strong and unyeilding, but perhaps this young dragon would be easy to sway. When they found that was not the case, they grew violent towards her, attempting to force her to use her powers for evil. Kama was unable to stand the sight of his young friend being treated in such a way, and so, in the middle of the night, he smuggled the coatl out of the lair, as far into the wastes as she could. Offering her small bags of food and water, he pointed Tropica in the direction of more settlements, hoping she may find a better home who would appreciate her gift elsewhere. However, as Tropica went, her provisions dwindled and she got lost amongst the fields of ice. That's when a blind wildclaw came across her, and took the weak body back to his lair. But her struggles had only begun.

It wasn't long before she discovered what her new home was doing. They intentionally raised and slaughtered hatchlings, feeding their souls to some unseen creature living in the pits of their home. It was a monstrosity, and Tropica was caught up right in the middle of it. Unlike the old clan, Akiha wouldn't take no for an answer when it came to her soul-harvesting abilities. When Tropica refused to aid them, she was thrown into shackles that sealed her very life force to the clan's land. If she were to leave, her body would crumble beneath her and she would be petrified until carried back. She was a prisoner now.

But in spite of this, Tropica stayed strong. During the slaughter of innocent hatchlings, she would hunker down at the side of the sacrificial grounds, and quietly call out to the terrified spirits that rose out of the empty vessels. Though the frightened ghosts were usually gobbled up by the Enyo before they even had a chance to understand what was happening, on a few occassions Tropica has saved them, and carried them off to the afterlife.
I'll take you away from these horrors, to somewhere safe..
