Montu serves as the Clan's Captain of the Guard. While he isn't as large as many of the Guardian clan members or even some of the other Imperials, his combat prowess, battle strategy, and powerful plague magical abilities are unmatched. While Montu is a very respected member of the clan and a good captain of the battlefield, he has no interest in leading the clan itself and is very loyal to Jupiter. He is a dragon to be feared, and his hardened heart, a result of his training in the Scarred Wasteland, has caused him to be very cruel and unmerciful towards his enemies. He has tortured, manipulated, and even murdered in order to protect his family and clan. He only softens towards his mate Myar and the four of their children whom have decided to remain in the clan, Shamu, Izumi, Astor, and Jazelle whom he loves and cares for deeply.

o r i g i n s

Montu was born to a powerful clan within the Scarred Wasteland, with a rigid battle code and strict Guard. While his father was a more peaceful Gatherer within the clan, combing the rocks for scraps of herbs, his mother was a vicious and well known warrior. At first, Montu was only interested in gathering and hunting, like his father; that all changed when his father was attacked by a rogue group of starving and cannibalistic Imperials within the Wasteland and all four fell to create a hideous Emperor. It took the combined efforts of Montu's clan and others to finally bring it down, but the horrifying sight of his father's corpse on the form of the monster was forever burned in Montu's memory, and he vowed to become a powerful warrior so he could protect his future clan and family from falling to the grips of an Emperor. Montu eventually left the Scarred Wasteland in order to find more opportunity for advancement within a smaller clan; however, he never forgot his original purpose or the fate of his father.

Montu has taken multiple mates within the clan, although he eventually chose Myar as his forever-mate, who is an extremely sweet and loving member of the clan - Montu's opposite. This seemed to be just what he needed; many Guard members have noted that Montu has become significantly more patient and less quick to anger since he became mated to Myar. Most of his children from previous pairings had left for service to the Windsinger or gone to other clans, but his first two daughters with Myar, Izumi and Shamu, chose to stay and live within the Clan, much to his surprise and delight. Later on, Montu also had two sons (Jazelle and Astor) who decided to stay as well. Montu's family unit is the largest within the clan.

p e r s o n a l i t y and a p p e a r a n c e

Montu has a gruff, hard, and bitter personality. He rarely expresses any kind of happiness or joy around any dragon but his family, and is known to be a very tough leader and disciplinarian of Guard members. He is extremely loyal but also cautious, holding mistrust of the larger and cunning Astral. He is wary of Izumi's mate Symphony, but Symphony's calm personality and harmless love for flowers and plants has made Montu grudgingly accepting of him.

Montu's appearance is meant to be as intimidating and scary as his personality, with a glowing Plague emblem broadcasting his ruthlessness and a large black robe and bloody bandages on his legs and face meant to show his strength and experience.

Hades, a small and powerful plague sprite, first started hanging around Montu when he was a hatching in his clan in the Scarred Wasteland. Other clan members assumed Hades was attracted to Montu's magical ability, and the two grew up practicing magical attacks and working together. Naturally, when Montu left his clan and joined his new one, Hades followed. He still serves as Montu's faithful servant to this day.
