Adventure runs in her blood, she is told as a hatchling. One day, she will explore the world. She will meet dragons from every element and clan. She watches her siblings pack for their journeys across Sornieth. She eagerly waits for their return, counting the days, until her parents sit her down and explain that adventure runs in the blood of Wind dragons, and sometimes, the call of adventure is louder than the call of home. Her siblings never return.

Soon, her friends begin packing. She remembers her siblings, now lost to the winds, leaving her behind. Now, her friends will do the same. She smiles at them, telling them that she can pack extra snacks for them in case they begin to miss home. She scours the nearby forest, finding the plants that her mother once scolded her for touching. She wraps the snacks tightly in cloth. Months go by, and her friends do not return, but now she knows that they did not abandon her.

The one factor she doesn't plan for was the charitable nature of Wind dragons. One of her friends offers a snack to a Water dragon who never visited a Wind territory, only for the Water dragon to collapse. She watches as her friend returns with stories of sabotage, as her clan realizes the sudden decrease in returning dragons. They turn against her, ignore her pleas as she's cruelly sentenced to the Twisting Crescendo, to an existence of maddening solitude.

She runs. She has no choice. She knows cannot survive the Twisting Crescendo, so she must run. News of her betrayal does not travel far. Her clan must've assumed she fled far to a distant land.

There is a clan on the very edges of Wind territory. She enters hesitantly. Perhaps a new territory would be best, one that prefers family over adventure. But she never left Wind, and this new clan could still be her new family.

She's ushered to a Shadow dragon instead of Wind, one who rules over the clan. He offers her a home, and she accepts. She has nowhere else to go. She stays, and she soon notices that everyone else also stays. Not all dragons are Wind, but they are in Wind territory. And yet. They all stay. She stays, and she tells her King that if any of them ever dare to leave, she would ensure they spend their last moments of life regretting abandoning them.
