Cali I am the First Born of this Lair, along with my twin brother who was exalted to Windsinger's service soon after. My mother has taught me many things about this world, but I do prefer to go out and discover for myself. So many places, dragons, clans, and things to discover! I am often leading scouting parties to increase our map accuracy, as well as act as liaison with some of the nearby clans. So...have anything new to show me? Cali quietly hopped to a landing behind her brother Zahk who was intent on the bug he'd discovered in the ruins. Softly she came up behind him, smirking at his mutters of encouragement to the beetle beast to do whatever was amusing him now.

"GOTCHA!" She screamed as she pulled a scale from his tail and shot upward into the blue summer sky.

"CAAAAALLLLLLIIIII!" He screamed with the frustration only a brother can know.

He'll probably go cry to Mom and Dad again, Cali thought, and just in case, she headed for the clouds for cover and kept checking behind her. She knew she could fly circles around her brother, but Mom was insisting she practice good chase and be chased skills for the Coliseum, so she had to get...creative with her training.

Some day, she was gonna be a star!









Magus stumbled as the beast slammed it's wing claws into his head, Magus turned to lighten the force of the blow but still it ripped through his ear and narrowly missing his eye. He roared and swiped back with all his might and his sharpened claws to rake down the side of the beast that cawed and fell over, signalling he was out. Magus huffed out his chest and flapped his wings in victory!

"You dropped your guard again, Magus, I almost had you!" the beast mumbled as the healers saw to the thing's injuries.

"Next time maybe you can find an opening then! See you next week." Magus wiped his claws on a towel and headed over to his lair healer to have his ear seen to. A few health potions later and he was good as new, except for a painful crick in his pinions.

"Another potion, Niviane, not quite healed up yet."

"You are getting old, Magus, I told you this last week. It's not potions you need, it's time to pass along Coli Duties to the younger crowd."

"Bah, I still won didn't I?"

His mate, Siltaria walked up at just that moment and gave him the look. He, a powerful warrior and Alchemist of the highest order, ducked his head under the weight of her gaze.

"Magus, some day you will get seriously injured in the Coli Games, and not even Windsinger himself could save you from your spirit fleeing this world in disgust at your stubbornness." She took a wet cloth and wiped his cheek scales clean with a tender touch and a brief kiss on his nose. "I love you so much, but perhaps it is time to retire."

"Windsinger can still call me to Serve!"

"Yes he can. Or he may grant you a peaceful passing to a well deserved rest from this life. Before either of those happen, I am sure you will find plenty of trouble helping the younglings discover their Coli Skills. What do you say? Please? We worry about you so much when you come here."

He looked at his lovely Siltie and realized she too was getting older. Where once she had been a young dragon cheering his every victory and laughing at each defeat and bruised ego, now her wrinkled scales held the worry of the Ages.

"Yes, my love, it's time. I have some more potions I wanted to try anyway and now I can focus on them!" he nuzzled her neck and hugged her, then huffed himself up off the bench and looked around.

"Cal!" he barked in his best drill master tone.

Their daughter and his Coli Partner, Cali, raced up, as did another Coli Fighter from the Lair. Once again, he'd forgotten they shared similar names. His eyes widened and he chuckled to himself. Heck, it was a a sign all along and he'd ignored it! Windsinger must think him a hard headed dunce!

"Okay you two, get on in there and take on the next opponents!"

"Dad? Wha--"

"I said the two of you get in there and fight! Now GIT!" he roared at his confused daughter and an even more confused Callis. Cali grabbed Callis by the wingtip and hauled him onto the fight line as he hopped behind her.

"Well done, Magus. Shall we go cheer them on?"

"After you, my love, and can we grab a couple of hot dogs too? Do you think there are hot dogs in the afterlife?"
