Facts don't lie but dragons do

Fieron grew up in the shadow of the Dragonhome, the large tower rising high above him. His Clan was a highly focused group of historians, archivists and story-tellers - they held vast amounts of knowledge and they held it dearly. Although they said they wanted to share it, it seemed that nobody wanted to hear it. Or perhaps, Fieron found himself thinking over and over, his Clan truly wanted to hoard the knowledge for themselves. There was no basis for this thought, and yet, Fieron could not shake it loose.

A grudge against his birth Clan grew, and he harboured it as carefully as his Clanmates treated their history books. When a passing dragon offered Fieron an excuse to leave, he took up the invitation instantly. Fieron felt it was better to travel, to see the entirety of Sorneith, and spread the knowledge he carried with him - better to do that than to waste away in his Clan and share his knowledge with no dragon at all. He left with only a clawful of books and a red Broadsword that his father had left for him before he was exalted to the Lightweaver.

His birth Clan did not protest, like he expected them to, nor did they really notice. Whether that was a relief or a disappointment, Fieron never did mention.

The moment he was able to, Fieron left his travel companion, his excuse to leave, and set out on his own. He traveled at first as far as he could on his own - occasionally joining with other scholars and archivists. He quickly learned that he preferred to be alone. Other dragons were not only distracting, but also a bother: It was easier to preach and share knowledge as a solitary being. Clans were more willing to shelter a loner for a day or two rather than a larger group of dragons.

As he went on, though, he realized it was becoming harder and harder to stay focused. He was constantly running amiss of Clan scandals, barely avoiding trouble with many leaders and dragons of all kinds. Conspiracy theories overtook his teachings, and Fieron found himself working in circles for dragons he never met, passing pamphlets and whispering messages along. Carried away and lost amid rumours of secret knowledge, Fieron became something his birth Clan would never accept. His life became dependant on half-truths, white lies, twisting words and deceitful companions. The clear line between truth and fiction was blurred until Fieron was no longer sure of what was real and what was fake.

When he found the Nya Clan, it was a breath of fresh air. Here, his mind cleared and he was able to return to his calling once more. Although there are still moments where he feels the doubt creep back, the darkness of conspiracy swirling around his feet, where he wonders what the deities and Flight leaders are planning - before he remembers, no, the conspiracies are not real. His mantra in these moments is, “Stick to the facts.” It’s all he can do when the darkness threatens to take over.
