Mildred

The Scribe
Holds pen to paper for her Clan

History has a funny way of favouring the victors, some say. But Milded knows the truth. History does not favour the victors, but those who pen them to paper. Those who record the events of life, big and small, are in charge of how society is remembered. And Mildred knows this almost better than anyone.

Mildred is a tiny, enchanting Fae with large facial features. Her wide, observant eyes catch the details around her; she can hear dragons whispering across the clearing and can easily piece together the stories she hears; her sense of smell is impressive and she can taste magic on the air even when the spell caster has left the scene over half an hour ago. All of her senses are drastically improved to make up for her being mute. She does not speak, although other dragons are not sure whether it is because she is unable to, or because she chooses not to.

Her greatest strength, however, is her skill with a pen. She is the Clan's Scribe, and ensures that all reports, memos and letters are properly drafted up, revised and signed before they are sent off. She works with the Clan's archivist to keep everything in order, and to maintain the history of the Clan, the Flight and all of Sorneith in her records. She is a busy gal, darting between meetings, checking in on her Clanmates, and ensuring her leaders have all that they need written and signed before she closes her office for the night.

Of course, her position as the Clan's Scribe is merely her day job. Her real power comes at night, when she begins writing stories for herself. She has an imaginative mind and a clear, brilliant prose which draws the reader in, swaying them into the world of her making. Fanciful and in some cases, frightening, her work is enticing and mesmerizing. Myths and legends, fairy tales and folklore is born from her writing.

However, her stories are not always creative, or fictional: Sometimes they are merely diary entries of what she experienced that day. Lists of her daily tasks, simple descriptions of whom she saw, what she accomplished. But even these hold the reader in their clutches. And the truth about these writings is that whatever Mildred writes becomes reality. Or rather, they cement into reality. Her magic makes any words she scribes true, no matter how absurd. Others will remember the events of the day in the way she writes them down, even if it did not truly happen that way. Small details can be lost this way, but Mildred is careful to write truthfully. She carries the honour of being a Scribe and knows the importance of her role.

Not many know of her true powers and ability; she keeps this to herself, for if any were to find out, they would only want to manipulate her and use her powers to their advantage. Mildred is a fairly good dragon with the best intentions for her Clan, and so she does her best to care for her Clan in her own way, by keeping the history books accurate.
