Biography
Meadbhb for runes kids
The Shattered Plain is prone to springtime floods. In this way, life abounds if you know where to look. Wildflowers fill the land with brilliant colors when the rains come. And sometimes hardy trees dare to take root at the edge of often-parched riverbeds.
It was one of these trees - a mountain oak that had strayed down to the Plain and gave it a go - that once marked the site of the original entrance to Oakrest. For a long time, it marked Bordeaux and Chandra's first lair, and the other dragons' dens were scattered nearby across the plain.
But in time, the oak grew ill, and it died.
Bordeaux, who had claimed the oak as his Charge, was dismayed. But Murphy salvaged one of the acorns from the old tree and nurtured it to grow. Bordeaux's spirits were revived, and the clan decided to relocate with the tree and try their fortunes in the crags around Greatwyrm's Breach.
As the oak thrived, so too did their clan. They attracted a great number of artists, artisans, and fighters. Together, the artists and artisans made Oakrest into a citadel of great beauty set in the face of the canyon, and the fighters kept it safe from brigands, marauders, and the longneck tribes that took umbrage with their presence.
Meanwhile, as trade increased and more dragons came to study, create, and take up residency, the dragons of Oakrest knew they would need more space.
And so they started digging.
They expected to find rock every step of the way, but eventually they uncovered ancient tunnels. The walls were carved with sigils and runes no one could understand, and a dank mustiness pervaded. Clancy led a team to excavate the area properly and keep the ancient treasures intact.
Eventually the team found a set of doors large enough for even the largest imperial to pass through comfortably. They kept the doors sealed while Clancy poured over the petroglyphs, searching for reason. Cross-referencing ancient tomes the clan had collected from trades, eventually he was able to make his report to the Council of Elders. When asked what lay beyond the doors, Clancy's answer was simple.
"A tomb."

As Guardian of the Oaks, Bordeaux's days are spent largely outside tending Oakrest's iconic mountain oaks and fending off dragons who would harvest them for their wood. He spends more time among the trees than he does within the Citadel, and for this reason he has elected to eschew his duties as Leader, passing them to his grandson, Copperlight. Bordeaux is fiercely loyal and protective of those things he cherishes. However, many know him as laid-back and easy-going. In truth, he is quite sharp-tongued and given to a wicked sense of humor. The misunderstanding comes from how often he lets things slide as he does not have the energy for them. Bordeaux's joints wore out quite early in his youth. Now, what should still be the stride of a dragon in his prime is now the creep of a far more ancient dragon. His massive weight bears down on ankles and knees with enormous pain, and he must conserve what strength he has for those things which are truly important. Bordeaux's mate is Chandra. The two are a love match, and he is and has always been fiercely protective of her. She sometimes jokes that the only thing he loves more is his trees. |

NOTABLE RELATIONS
TRIVIA
- Attempted and failed to conquer the coliseum due to his health problems. This is why base strength is not always viewed as the most useful skill in Oakrest. - Has one elder nestbrother, another guardian. They have not spoken in years, though they parted amiably. - Assigns the 'hatchling names' to all of Oakrest's offspring. Many dragons do not keep this name, as it is sometimes a mouthful and sometimes a bit sarcastic. |
APPEARANCE NOTES
- His skin sags over the remains of heavily atrophied muscles - Smile lines rim his eyes |
GOALS
- Maintain his trees in perpetuity - See Copperlight continue to lead the clan well |
